1- IT Infrastructure Pitfalls

Searching for information often took considerable amounts
of time, without consistent results.

What needs to be done:
Reshaping KM internal Content Management system so that
IDSC employees can retrieve the right information at the
right time.

2- Learning and Expertise Turnover

Loss of important knowledge when staff members move to
other jobs in the organization or leave the organization.

What needs to be done:
Using KM tools to retain organizational knowledge
embedded in staff expertise so that it can be available and
known to everyone in the organization.

3- Poor Communication and Collaboration
 Environment

Insufficient communication and coordination in sharing of
knowledge and experience between IDSC departments.

What needs to be done:
Improving Knowledge sharing tools and mechanisms to
enhance sharing and putting knowledge into practice.

4- Organizational Silos

Duplication and Overlapping in effort between departments.

What needs to be done:
Moving from managing silos to managing systems by
identifying knowledge gaps and areas of duplication and
comparing the results of knowledge inventory analysis with
knowledge needs analysis.
