Year 11 group presentation goals

  • 1. Goal Setting  Life long  Long term  Short term  Term goals  Monthly goals  Weekly goals  Realistic goals
  • 2. Goals  Short term and long term goals  Short term goal: to achieve 80 + on my next assignment OR run five kilometres  Long term goal: Get into the course of my choice at uni OR run a half marathon
  • 3. After the HSC...  It is never to early to start planning to do what you want to do when you finish school.  How is schooling going to get you there?  How is this a stepping stone for your future?  Research university and TAFE courses.  The HSC is just one small part in the larger scheme of life.
  • 4. What am I good at?  What careers are there in that field?  Networking  Research it  Talk to your careers advisor  Internships  Traineeships  Mentor
  • 5. How do I get from here to there? Making a plan…  Create a check list  Schedule tasks  Post it where it can been seen  Allocate sufficient time to complete tasks
  • 6. How do I learn best?  Study groups  Tutoring  Study buddy  Solo What do I do WELL?  Focus on your accomplishments! 
  • 7. Finding a work space  ‘Organise’ your work space  Colour coding/filing/folders /shelves?  It is very difficult to ‘unclutter’ your mind when stuff is everywhere.  Dump what you don’t need or haven’t used.  What you ‘surround yourself’ with says something about you… 15 min at the end of the day…
  • 8. Begin with time management 1. Create a term chart, plotting your assessments 2. Begin backwards mapping short terms goals to assist in your preparation 3. Each week, create a ‘week plan’ with specific due dates 4. Spend 15 min before bed listing your priorities for the following day.
  • 9. Daily time management  Sketch out the day plan (i.e. school hours and appointments/sport/tuition)  Plan ‘down time’ for relaxation  Time for friends/family  Study time  Re-visit how much time is ‘wasted’  Aim to find an ‘hour’ to begin with
  • 10. Begin with a ‘day’ plan Monday 7-8 Get ready for school. 30 min review for English double. List questions 8-9 8-8:30 travel. 8:30-9 Study buddy review 30 min. 9-4 CLASS AT SCHOOL 4-5 Exercise/friends 5-6 Study other course 6-7 Dinner/family time 7-8 Study other course 8-9 Relax til 8:30 8:30- Study other course 30 min. 9-10 Family/friends 10 Bed time Phone OFF!
