Working Title:
Shots.
Audience:
Looking at my research I can clearly see that my audience is between the ages ofabout 30-40.The
experimental genre seems to be more popular with the older males. This could be down to them being able to
understand the true meaning ofthe film, unlike the younger audiences who maybe justsee the film as a mess
of shots and confusion. The social status ofmy audience is Lower middle class to Middle class because of
the fact that I feel like anyone can watch a shortfilm. But it mightnot be in the interest of a higher-class
person to watch a shortfilm. However the installation ofvideos and art in galleries tends to be more aimed at
the higher class, those with the more moneybecause they can afford this. I feel like my projectwill appeal to
a male between 30 and 40 because they could maybe have an interestin photography, or maybe even just
art in general.30 to 40 years olds tend to be looking for hobbies to keep them busy and this shortfilm could
be whatmakes them lean towards film making. It could also attract the older generation because ofthe need
to express their freedom and feelings.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
I feel like from the start of this year I have advanced in some skill sets Ialready had but also picked up some
very useful skills since the start. For example I feel the work we did creating Parallaxes on Aftereffects was
very useful and I picked up the skill quite quickly. I will be using Premiere and After Effects when it comes to
the postproduction;Ifeel my skills in these programs are strong enough to create a good final 60-second
video. When it comes to using Aftereffects I will be using itto include the needed statement.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
My project will be an experimental 60-second film focused on the cinematographyside ofshooting a film.I am
looking for beautifullycomposed shots and large architecture, with good lighting. My aim is to not hire any
castfor my shortfilm for ease of arranging shooting days.If I shootwith no one and justuse strangers in my
film then I can shootwhenever it suits me,instead ofhaving to work around someone else’s timetable. My
film will be made of5-second shots jump cutting from the landscape to a clock back to the landscape. With
the clock slowlyticking down the time between each cut gets shorter and shorter, when the clock hits zero it
will cut to a shotof a large building thatsays on the side ‘Thatwasn’tsupposed to happen’. I feel like
because ofmy lack of actors and simplicityof my conceptthe film its selfwill be easy to shoot, because of
this I will prioritise the postproduction ofmyfilm. In terms of postproduction Idon’twantto heavily edit any of
my shots too much.Because I want the natural lighting to make all the shots good.
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
I will definitelyneed a camera,tripod and a Mac to complete my shortfilm.Because I will be filming short5
second shots with a large amountof shots,I will need to consider the composition ofmy shots and I definitely
cant have a camera shake on my shots other wise it will not look professional.Ialso will need to think about
what style of music will be in my film and if I want music atall.I feel no music will be the easyoption, meaning
I wonthave to create anything in garage band. But I will need to consider ifmusic will strengthen myfilm.
With music itcould draw away from the main focus ofthe film, the shots. If I do need to add music Iwill make
my own in garage band, this way I will feel more accomplished.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I will compare mywork to other experimental films similar to mine. Also look at the way I decided to edit it
together and how well the whole composition works together.Iwill also consider evaluating halfwaythrough
and seeing ifmy film is working or if I need to rethink it.
