4. ADD, ADHD, & Autism
Our first point is by far the most obvious and well known, but it’s completely true!
Fidget spinners help anyone with ADD, ADHD, and/or autism stay focused and
motivated. The spinners give them something to invest their distractions &
energy into, thus freeing their minds to focus more on the task at hand.
5. Academic Anxiety
Most people deal with at least some level of academic anxiety, and these spinners truly help!
Whether it’s nerves about a test, a grade, or a hard-to-grasp concept, fidgeting with these
spinners can vent that nervous energy and help them cope better. I can’t help but wonder if
these could have the same effect for memory jogging as chewing gum does--as in, the
concept of chewing the same flavor gum while studying & taking a test should help with
memory. Maybe these work the same way!
6. Social Anxiety
These spinners are helpful for more than one kind of anxiety. Social anxiety is a
big one for introverts especially, but these spinners make those uncomfortable
situations easier to handle. It gives them something to keep moving and investing
their energy into whether they are in a crowded restaurant, grocery store, rally, or
even dealing with a difficult person. They may not be able to control the
overwhelming situation, but they can control the fidget spinner, which amazingly
gives quite a bit of reassurance and comfort.
7. That Nervous Habit
Does your teen struggle with nail biting? Cracking their knuckles? Clicking pens
over and over? Whatever nervous habit they have, these fidget spinners work
really well to direct that energy into something more productive and less
damaging!
8. Staying Awake
One of the most fun part of fidget spinners is that they can work well to help teens
(or anyone) stay awake! I could definitely see these being useful for helping teens
stay more alert during their morning co-op class or whatever it may be. The ability
to spin something like this helps activate their senses more so they are less likely
to feel sluggish.
