Teacher Standards (NCBTS)
The National Competency-Based
Teacher Standards (NCBTS)
defines the desired practice of
effective teaching. The NCBTS
sets performance indicators
classified in appropriate domains
and strands that guide teacher
professional development.

also find out what will be our goal for today’s
lesson.
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able

c. Evaluate how helpful the Philippine Professional

Let us talk about the Philippine Professional
Standards for Teachers (PPST).
Teachers play a critical role in improving the quality
of the teaching and learning process, hence raising
teacher quality is at the top of the numerous
educational reform efforts aimed at achieving
quality education. Teachers are very essential to the
community right everybody?
Why do you say that they are important?

The PPST is a public
statement of professional
accountability. It has four
career stages: Beginning,
Proficient, Highly Proficient,
and distinguished. It has
seven Domains, 37 Strands,
and 37 indicators for each
career stage. It provides
measures of professional
learning, competent practice,
and effective engagement.
The aims of PPST:
 sets clear expectations of
teachers along well-defined
career stages of professional
development from beginning
to distinguished practice;
 engages teachers to embrace
ongoing professional
learning for them
professional development to
enhance their own teaching;

Because they teach us students about the things
we need to know. They provide us with the
different knowledge that are very essential to us.

uniform measures to assess
teacher performance; and
 provides a basis for building
public confidence in and

teachers.
The PPST shall be used as the foundation for all
teacher learning and development activities to
ensure that teachers are fully qualified to implement
the K to 12 Program. It can also be utilized for
teacher recruitment and advancement. All teacher
performance evaluations must be based on this set
of standards.
As a teacher you really need to follow the set of
standards for you to be qualified in the recruitment
and advancement. Right class?

is committed to supporting
educators and taking notice of
unequivocal evidence that good
teachers are vital to raising student
achievement. Quality learning is
contingent upon quality teaching.
Consequently, improving teacher quality
becomes of utmost importance for
long term and sustainable nation

Let us talk about the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST). Teachers play a critical role in improving the quality of the teaching and learning process, hence raising teacher quality is at the top of the numerous educational reform efforts aimed at achieving quality education. Teachers are very essential to the community right everybody? Why do you say that they are important? Well said Mr. Ignacio! The PPST is a public statement of professional accountability. It has four career stages: Beginning, Proficient, Highly Proficient, and distinguished. It has seven Domains, 37 Strands, and 37 indicators for each career stage. It provides measures of professional learning, competent practice, and effective engagement. The aims of PPST:  sets clear expectations of teachers along well-defined career stages of professional development from beginning to distinguished practice;  engages teachers to embrace ongoing professional learning for them professional development to enhance their own teaching; (Student’s reading) Yes, Ma’am.
