2. Mcfly! I chose McFly as an option, because when they first started they had a squeaky clean image; you can see this with their song Girl with 5 colours in her hair. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h76uVRSJ5bc
3. A couple of years later…. …they had a huge dramatic change. Their video is based more on the sexual/provocative view of women, and is following on the trend of the vampire phenomenon which has taken over the world by storm. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rrn6BbM0TRQ -
4. What's the difference? You can see the amazing transformation of the two videos. While the first is more colourful and ‘pop material’, the second is more dark and ‘mysterious’ which shows they have grown up from their old ‘boy next door’ look. And their style has changed; while they look like a school boy band in the first, the second looks like they are keeping in with the trend – they have changed their image because the music world is ever changing!
5. CHRISTINA AGUILERA McFly aren’t the only group that have changed their image; Christina Aguilera has had the most dramatic of all time. Again, just to keep in with the ever changing music scene. We see here in Genie in a Bottle that she looks like your average ‘girl next door’ but when we go through other videos we will see her DRAMATIC change! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGU3ZLutT5E&feature=related
6. Genie to Dirty…. Aguilera caused a lot of controversy when she was dressed provocatively throughout her video of dirty. The reason for this was because she was part of the Mickey Mouse troupe as well as Britney Spears, so her audience were shocked on how much she changed but it was more on the fact of her growing maturity; as you can see in these pictures: Watch her video ‘Dirty’ to see the change! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kaej4Wjkj1Q&feature=related
7. From ‘Dirty’ to ‘Candy’ The transformation she had from here I would say was the best so far. Her songs from ‘back to basics’ show her soulful side rather than sexuality. This album is based more on her childhood and her 60’s image and presenting herself as a role model, rather than seeming like she is dressing down for her male fans. The fact that she was also in a growing relationship with her (now) husband may have swayed her to go towards looking like a soul sister! Watch the video to see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nu-7rPdFjvI&feature=related
8. What happened to her soulful sound? Her new video ‘Not myself tonight’ truly shocked me. To me it seemed like she was taking on Lady GaGa’s image and portraying it on herself, which shows that singers/bands, have a major challenge on their hands to stay in touch with the new ‘funky’ and ‘different’ image. Now her album ‘Bionic’ is more of the electronic/dance music which sparks up questions if she really is trying to copy Lady GaGa’s image. See if you feel the same: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrmJl1l_iaA&feature=related
9. McFly’s transformation in conclusion! Looking at the boy bands like ‘JLS’ and ‘The Wanted’ you get the sense that McFly are trying to keep up with them as they have record selling songs, which achieve the Number 1 spot! So while they change their songs and videos, they are gaining a new image which may lead to girls falling at their feet.
10. Christina’s Transformation! We’ve seen her dressed like the girl next door to what seems like a dominatrix in Bionic! Looking at Lady GaGa, she may have changed her style because Lady GaGa is the most controversially dressed woman in the world, is Miss Aguilera changing her style because of this? I will leave you to wonder!
