3. Research
• I feel that my research was a strength overall, being able to look at other similar existing products was a strength as it provided a format to
follow to see what quality the video should be and the standard to look like, I feel that my work fits to the style of what the reviews I looked
at, one review I looked at was by a youtuber called “ihateeverything” and this followed a style of showing the clips in the background as he
talks through what's happening looking into the film he's talking about discussing different topics comparing it with evidence to back up his
points and I found this to be important to follow for my work as its how a in-depth movie should be done, it opens up unbiased as he talks
about what the character development is like and how the story fits together, by backing up points and adding a joke that memorable to it he
makes the points memorable and gets you to think about them, there was a strength in watching this as research because it showed me what
a well structured video.
• Another strength of research was looking and re watching Thor Ragnarok, which was the film that I am going to be reviewing, in my research I
was able to watch the movie repeatedly, this is not something that I want to do but I was able to take notes on the movie while watching it
and do a scene by scene analysis of the characters and lines seeing how it is fits together and picking out things that don’t work or are to
generic or overdone. It was good to watch the film multiple it gave me time to really think on my opinion and give me opportunity to back up
points and find new points to make.
• Also in research I looked into reviews that of low quality and found that some people that don’t review the film properly but think they do
proper ones that don’t pay attention, while looking at these in my research I was able to see what I should stray away from on prodject. I
found it interesting looking at different videos that are similar to what I could make for my factual project, but I felt that this similar existing
product to long to watch and to make notes on so this would be a weakness in the research.
• I felt another weakness was that I didn’t have a questionnaire, as my product is aimed at an audience that should be aged 12 and above a
questionnaire would have been useful to keep recorded data of people from that age group.
• I know timing was a big issue for me as I struggled to get the work in on time with the amount of detail that I had decided to into and this
meant that when it came down to finishing off other parts of the work I didn’t have time to go into the same amount of detail.
4. Planning
• The biggest strength of the planning document was writing the script for my video, I felt it was important to spend time making sure the script was
on point, as well as this it makes my video well structured, I have put work into structuring the category's for the script so that I can back up my
arguments and make statements that are clever and well written, the planning allows me to do this as I was able to make different drafts of scripts
and rehearse what my script and alter it as I go making my project as good as it can be, the scripting by far was a strength.
• The second biggest part was finding my clips that I would use in the video, without the time planning, writing the script I wouldn’t of known what
clips to look for and definitely use unless I had planned it instead. This was a strength in planning as I was able to find the clips I would need as well
and have them ready and prepared for my factual video.
• The third part was making notes while watching the film, as I was watching the film I spotted so many things wrong with the movie different parts
and points that I could talk about in my video review, I feel that without this I wouldn’t of been able to write a strong script with points and I was also
able to make notes on what clips I should use and where they are in the movie with time points to follow to it, if not for this I would have struggled a
great deal in writing my script and collecting the clips.
• I would say that overall the planning was a strength or at least the majority was, without the planning my project would have not been near as
thought out.
• A weakness of the planning was time management, if I created a schedule to follow and stick to I could have kept track of my work better this would
have given me more time making my final production which is a major part of what I needed in my final project/ video.
5. Time Management
• I felt I had mixed time management. On my initial plans I managed my time well keeping my work to a good standard and getting up and on my Wix
site, my theory work was on time and done to good standard however I can do much better and in time I will improve on this I feel that if I had more
time I could have written more compelling and better structured theory work, side note my website is not something that I am happy with at the
minute and when I have more time I will be starting a new one and making it easier to understand, it will look nicer and be easier to follow. I feel I
could have had more time on my research, if I had more time to look at different products and review them I could have a more in depth look at
what I should of included in my products if I did not. If I had more time on my script I could of refined it, making it sound better but keeping all my
points the same, with more time I could have improved the notes that I had made, I feel that the notes I made where inclusive to the first viewing,
the second viewing was to verify the notes. A third viewing would have been good to collect more notes and see anything that I had missed in the
first two viewings.
8. Audience Appeal
The main audience that I was appealing to with my product was an age rating between 12 and above, this is because of my style of video
and the age rating of the film, I feel that the specific parts of my video that appeal to this age are the references in between the points in
the video that I created. I feel that another part of my project that appealed to my audience is when I aimed for an audience of style, the
style that I was aiming for is a well structured easy and fun to follow video, I feel that I have appealed to them with the transition slides and
these slides are animated so they are fun to watch and I have a soundtrack that if people know the name of the soundtrack then it will
appeal to the audience, the soundtrack for the comedy transition slide is “no time for caution” from interstellar this reference is to
represent how my script goes into the subject. Another part of the my audience appeal is that I aimed my work at is those that are fans or
dislike the movie Thor Ragnarok or even the character Thor and I have appealed to this audience by making my video about that movie and
him. From my research I was also able to find that my audience liked a certain way of speaking I saw this from researching the different
types of reviews on YouTube and how dialogue was said and how things where worded, I feel that I followed this structure and this has
appealed to my audience.
