2. What the effect of digital applications in dispense with skills of
managers in the retail stores. A Literature Review
Introduction
No one can deny that digitization is one of the innovative changes in our current life.
It got into every detail in all businesses fields. In the 1960s, robots began to be
installed in factories for the first time, and then computers entered all fields of
business work. Now, smart applications enter the place of employee functions and
skills. Smart application do recording, monitoring the job performance, and giving the
correct way for managers to act correctly in performing the job or leading the team
work and the efficiency of achieving the company's policy and objectives. In this
literature review, I will review the researches and the studies about how the digital
applications can manage the work through managers regardless of quality skills for
them.
Identify the digital application and managers skills
One of the extremely important skills for the managers is to understand and follow up
for the company's goals (Singleton, 2013), Mintzberg Describe the manager "the
manager can never be free to forget the job, and never has the pleasure of knowing,
even temporarily, that there is nothing else to do" (Schermerhorn,2012, p22),
generally managers memories the routine for the work that they know what they do
and how they do and they have the skills to do their work (Singleton, 2013).from here
appear the ability for the digital applications to assume the role of the managers and
replace their skills.
Digital applications and smart programs have the ability to draw all the performance
that the work need also to find the solution to all types of problems of work in details,
in addition to the high quality of the sensors in digital applications. (Harteis, 2017).
The top management uses the digital tools to watch the manager's performance and
customer's behavior, in result they can put all the managers accountable and in the
same time forecasting high levels of accuracy of a forecast that in turn converts into
higher profitability and revenue (Liu, Bin Zainal & Apine, 2020),( wooqer.com).
One of the examples for retail digital application is (Wooqer system), Wooqer is a
digital application via the smart devices to drive and engagement across large closed
groups and Large distributed networks in many sectors such as retail stores ,
Insurance, and Banking.(Chakraborty,2014) For instance in hypermarkets the
application "guiding principles, measuring compliance and accountability of team
management can be put in place in one place, replacing the management roles and
skills needed for the job."(wooqer.com).

3. How the digital applications dispense skills of manager?
Some studies raise questions about the effect of digitization on job performance and
job performance outcomes, such as: Will some of the manager's tasks be transferred
to other employees or new tasks are added to the managers? Or will the managers be
removed? (Rintala.& Sanna, 2017) .Direct influence on work tasks and job efficiency
lead managers now to adapt their work according to the digital system(Harteis,2017 ),
for example the wooqer digital application will be with the managers updated in their
mobiles, and during the duty time the Digital application will draw the daily routine
job in the retail store starting from store opening checklist then evaluation the
performance ,store safety checklist, Product merchandising analysis, maintenance
team checklist ,store closing checklist food safety checklist. Also Top management
monitor managers rate for their outcomes basis achievement of key performance
indicator or lists to do (wooqer.com).
Some studies indicate that with the digital applications require multi-professionalism
and deep proficiency in result will appear new needs for new education will emerge
(Rintala & Sanna, 2017), more studies explain that the managers will work together
with technology, the digital part of the equation, and the work become more effective
and managers' role does not face extinction (Liu &et al.2020). Sometimes the results
are unsatisfactory for the top management; the functional requirements are modified,
digital application support the human function through complex data and solve
complex problems using algorithms (Liu &et al.2020).
Conclusion
Top management in retail work always raising concerns about manager's skill
shortages. Digital revolution entered the retail industry in big way to cover the skills
shortages requirements associated with retail stores managers. Digital applications
through smart algorithms open new horizons in retail markets and enhance the
efficiency and control process of Top management of managers working within the
hypermarket ,we expect that the traditional skills of managers in retail markets such as
planning, directing, leading may disappear.
