“MY PEDAGOGY”
I believe that the main purpose of education is learning. The mission of every instructor
and the ambition of every student is to increase knowledge and understanding in the computer
classroom. As an educator, it is my desire to help students meet their fullest potential in this area
by providing an environment that supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. I feel that to
reach that goal we should focus in different areas, such as: (1) instructor acting as a guide,
providing the primary source of information, (2) form independent ideas to solve problems that
will help them in and outside of school, (3) share ideas, validate them by allowing students to
formulate important processes in their development as professionals, and (4) providing group
interaction as a key factor in the learning process.
The teacher’s role is to guide, point student in the direction they should go to solve
problems by providing them with the vital information they need to do so. For students to construct
knowledge, they need the opportunity to discover and practice skills in authentic situations.
Providing students’ access to hands-on activities and allowing adequate time and space to use
materials that reinforce the lesson studied. It creates an opportunity for individual knowledge to
occur.
The teacher should inspire and challenge students. Compassion and genuine interest in
students greatly enhances the educational area when knowledge is disseminated. To make this
possible, the teacher should set specific goals for students. Long-term goals will allow students to
use what they are learning in class and will help them to develop an interest in the subject area
being taught. As teachers, we can help them reach their goals by creating ideas for day-to-day use.
As instructors, we need to make education enjoyable and make students feel comfortable, in order
for them to approach us and guide them to make decisions and get help on the subject being
discussed. Applying this educational philosophy will make education complete and satisfying.
