1925 when Manuel L.
Quezon was the Senate
President and Leonard
Wood was the Civil
Governor in the
Philippines.

5. Based on DepEd findings;
BACKGROUND In NUMBER:
• The Philippines has not met the standard
required the students to compete on an
international level.
• Our country ranked the lowest score in
international test such as the 2003
(TIMMS (TRENDS IN INTERNATIONAL
MATH & SCIENCE STUDY)

10. Major Reforms in Basic Education;
The ADDITION of JUNIOR HIGH
SCHOOL and SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL.
It is the TWO YEARS of SPECIALIZED
EDUCATION where STUDENTS may choose
a specialization based on:
Aptitude
Interest
School capacity

11. Senior High School
Grades 11 to 12 (16 – 17 years old)
The Seven Learning Areas under
the CORE CURRICULUM are:
1.Languages
2.Literature
3.Communication
4.Mathematics
5.Philosophy
6.Natural Sciences
7.Social Sciences

12. After graduating from Senior High, students
will choose among three tracks:
1. Academic
2. Technical – Vocational – Livelihood
3. Sports and Arts
These Academic Tracts includes three

2.Humanities, Education, Social Sciences
(HESS)
3.Science, Technology, Mathematics,
Engineering

& concerns regarding the
implementation of K to 12
Curriculum in our country, let as
