Trinity undertook this project in November ’10 on
behalf of Balfour Beatty Engineering for the
pipework installation package with an initial order
value of £865,000.
Due to open in March 2012, the Plymouth Life
Centre, build cost £46.5million will be one of the
country's leading centers of sporting excellence. It
will also attract some of the region's top sportsmen
and women, as well as a number of international
Olympic teams preparing for London 2012.
Facilities will include a family leisure pool with
flumes, climbing zone with 15m wall, aerial assault
course, bouldering and abseiling, eight lane indoor
bowls centre, 12‐court multi‐use sports hall,
fitness suites, 10‐lane 50m swimming pool with
moveable floors and 'booms', diving pool, dryside
training facility for competitive divers with
trampolines, springboards, harnesses, crashmats,
sauna, steam rooms and showers, multi‐purpose
areas youth gym, squash, training and studio
spaces and a public cafe.
This being one of the largest pipework only
installation projects Trinity have undertaken and
includes heating, chilled, gas, domestic water and
drainage services installations and on the back of
this project have secured national agreements with
pipework and fixings companies.
At the peak of the works Trinity had some 30No.
operatives on site installing the various pipework
services. Due to delays in the construction this
project has now overrun by some 28weeks and is
now scheduled for completion February ‘12
