Senior Structural Engineer 2007 - 2016
Worked as a senior structural/civil engineer and EOR on various small and large industrial projects such as
ethanol plants, power plants, cement plants, coal mines and storage facilities, grain facilities, sulfur handling
facilities, docks and ship mooring structures, shipyard storage facilities, steel and concrete silos, roadways,
piping systems and pipe racks, equipment foundation, etc. Actively worked on multiple projects
simultaneously. The performed work on the various projects includes:
• Material handling systems including: Conveyor systems and support structures: conveyor trusses,
tube galleries, truss galleries, bents, transfer towers, take-up towers, etc.
• Storage facilities: Material storage buildings, steel and concrete silos, stacking tubes, steel bins,
domes.
• Steel Structures: Steel towers, steel buildings, steel trusses, ship unloader structure, seismic design,
etc
• Foundations: Shallow foundations, spread footings, wall footings, combined footings, concrete pits,
deep foundations, various piles and sheet piles, slab on grade, and equipment foundations.
• Retaining walls: Mass stabilized and tie rod stabilized retaining walls.
• Mining: Mine shaft design.
• Civil site work: Site preparation, grading, drainage, water and sewer.
• Roadway and pavement: Rigid and flexible roadways, and pavement.
• Mooring Structures: Vessel berthing energies, passing ship loads, wave loads, mooring analysis,
breasting dolphins, mooring dolphins, fendering systems.
• Evaluation and retrofit: Evaluation and retrofit of various types of structures (steel, concrete, wood).
• Inspections: Onsite inspection of existing concrete silos, steel structures, ship unloader crane
support, and river cells, grain storage facilities, Sulfur handling facilities.
• Site Engineer: Onsite engineering support for construction.
• Proposals: Steel and concrete quantities and cost estimates, concepts and preliminary engineering.
• Design documents: Technical specifications, scope of work documents, applying for permits, etc.
• Project management and controls: man-hour and schedule estimates, percent complete of various
tasks, Project controls spreadsheets.
• Geotechnical: vertical and lateral pile capacities using software such as L-Pile and All-Pile. Retaining
wall design, lateral soil pressures on retaining wall and other structures, active at rest and passive
soil pressures, interpretation of geotechnical reports, modulus of subbase material.
