5. What is IB?
The International Baccalaureate is a program
that aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable
and caring young people who help to create a
better and more peaceful world through
intercultural understanding and respect.
This program encourages students across the
world to become active, compassionate and
lifelong learners who understand that other
people, with their differences, can also be
right.
7. Teaching and Learning in the IB
The IB celebrates the many ways people work
together to construct meaning and make
sense of the world. Through the interplay of
asking, doing and thinking, this constructivist
approach leads towards open, democratic
classrooms. An IB education empowers young
people for a lifetime of learning, independently
and in collaboration with others. It prepares a
community of learners to engage with global
challenges through inquiry, action and
reflection.

9. Transdiciplinary Themes
These themes provide IB World schools
with the oppourtunity to incorporate local

effectively allow students to 'step up'
beyond the confines of learning within
subject areas.

home set books to monitor then please ask

-Culmination of PYP

-A celebration of learning
-A demonstration of what it means to be a PYP student, applying
what they have learned and who they have become throughout
their journey in the PYP (essential elements)

21. What does PYP Exhibition look like?
Goal: Following official PYP guidelines students will stage an exhibition
demonstrating their understanding of the PYP.
Role: Each student will contribute to the exhibition and make a presentation.
Audience: All members of the school community and parents, donors and non-
governmental organizations (NGOs).
Situation: Students decide what action to take to solve an identifiable local
problem that also related to the bigger world.
Product or performance: PYP Exhibition (the opportunity for students to share
their message with the community and world!)
Enduring Understanding: Have the children made a difference in the community
and/or world and shown an understanding of the PYP essential elements?
Another parent / student meeting will be scheduled to go into further detail.
22. Heggedal Skole
Will not affect your child's learning at all
Only issue we have encountered so far is the
playground, pick up and drop off
All of these issues will be resolved as it is only
the 2nd
week.
Our Students have been very mature the
entire week.
We thank you for being understanding
23. Hygiene
Students in year 6 are beginning to turn into
teenagers
Therefore important that you talk to your child
about how their body is changing
School Nurse has been asked to come in and
speak with boys and girls separately
Please make sure you supply your children
with deodorant before they come to school
24. Having Respect
Please make sure you reinforce to your
children the importance of respect with their
classmates
We all come from a variety of countries all with
our own cultural traditions and beliefs
Therefore it is essential that everyone
understand that we are all different and that
we can learn from one another
That's what makes this school so amazing.
The diversity!
25. Thank you
I am extremely excited and enthusiastic about
your child's learning
I will do whatever possible to make sure they
feel comfortable in class and are looking
forward to come to school every day
Thank you for showing an interest in your
child's learning
It's going to be a busy year but with your
support your children can really excel in their
learning
