DISBURSEMENTS




•   You will receive an email notification once an EFT has been processed.
•   Look for the funds in your bank account 1-3 business days following the
    disbursement.
•   Remember that you can access the donation information as soon as the
    donation is made and don’t need to wait for a disbursement to happen in
    order to begin donor recognition.
DONATION SOURCES
Where are the donations coming from?
1. Donate Now! Button




•   The donor has made a donation by linking through the Donate Now!
    button on your charity’s website.
2. Website Charity Search




•   The donor found your charity through the CanadaHelps search and made
    a donation.
•   Donors can search by name, charitable business number, keyword, area of
    interest, or location.
3. Donor Favourite




•   The donor has chosen you charity as one of their favourite charities to
    donate to through CanadaHelps.
4. Scheduled Giving




•   The donor has set up a donation schedule to donate to your charity
    monthly.
5. Charity Gift Card




•   The donor has chosen to donate their Charity Gift Card to your charity.
6. GivingPage




•   The donor donated through a CanadaHelps GivingPage.
•   You will see the name of the person/group that set up the GivingPage in
    the Honouree field.
7. Securities
          Donate Securities                   Give securities: stocks,
          to your Favourite                   bonds, & mutual funds
          Charities!                          to this charity.
                                              Click here!




•   The donor has donated gifts of securities to your charity.
8. External Portal: Facebook Causes




•   The donor has made a donation through Facebook’s CAUSES application.
9. Donation Kiosk: DKCC Services




•   The donor has made their donation through a donation kiosk provided by
    DKCC (Donation Kiosk Centres of Canada).
•   More info: www.donationkiosks.com
10. Workplace Giving




•   The donation has come from a donor participating in a workplace giving
    program.
•   These donations are found in their own section: Under “Workplace
    Disbursements” in the DONATIONS tab.
DONATE NOW! BUTTON




•   Under the LINK tab of your MyCharity account, you can find the HTML
    code to add the button to your website.
•   The first step is to choose the set of buttons you like best.
•   They are available in English and French.
•   Once you choose an image, HTML code is automatically generated. All you
    have to do is add this code to your website’s existing HTML.
•   If you are unsure of what to do with the code, ask your charity’s website
    personnel to assist you.
Donate Now! Button Tips
• Place the Donate Now! button in a
  prominent place on the main page of
  your website.

• Make it easy to find. Put it on every
  page.

• Make sure the link works.

• The button is not just for your website–
  add it to your email newsletters and
  blog.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
1. Donor Recognition




• Recognize donors in a timely way.
• Remember to include CanadaHelps donors in your
  charity’s regular donor recognition programs.
2. Card Requests




• Fulfill card requests made by your donors.
• Check to see if donors have made requests with their
  donation in “Web Reports” under the DONATIONS
  tab.
3. Receipts




• Remember that CanadaHelps issues the tax receipts for the
  donations through our site.
• You must not issue receipts to the donors or to CanadaHelps.
4. T3010 Reporting




• Declare the donations you receive from CanadaHelps
  under:
     “Total amount received from other registered
     charities”
5. Non-charitable Payments




• Do not use CanadaHelps to process non-
  charitable gifts (i.e. event registrations,
  memberships, product purchases, etc.)
6. Anonymity




• Remember that donations can be made anonymously.
• CanadaHelps respects donor privacy and will not give a
  donor’s information if they have requested to remain
  anonymous.
