Job Summary:
America's Logistics Combat Support Agency
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) agency.
DLA provides worldwide logistics support for the missions of the Military
Departments and the Unified Combatant Commands under conditions of peace and war.
It also provides logistics support to other DoD Components and certain Federal
agencies, foreign governments, international organizations, and others as
authorized.

Major Duties:
DUTIES: As an Inventory Management Specialist, you will be responsible for the
following duties:
*This position may be filled at either grade level, please indicate the grade for
which you want to be considered, incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to
the next grade level in the time frame allowed by the merit promotion regulations
and upon management's request. Promotion is contingent upon satisfactory
completion of required training, regulatory requirements and demonstrated ability
to perform the duties.
*At the GS-07 level, incumbent will participate in formal and on-the-job training
designed to prepare them for advancement to the target level position.
2. Assignments are designed to provide diversified experience as a foundation for
future responsibility.
*Has analytical overview for determining requirements, positioning/repositioning
items, and initiating procurement.
*Responsible for effective material support for a total supply system involving
the full range of support items.
*Develops activity plans that identify actions, responsibilities and schedules
that must be met to ensure that proper and timely support is provided.
Qualifications:
To qualify for an Inventory Management Specialist, your qualifications must
include:
A. GS-07: Specialized Experience: To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must
possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level.
Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the
particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the
duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be
filled. You must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General
Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum
qualifications and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date
of the announcement. Examples of specialized experience are identified in the
Major Duties section of this vacancy announcement and may include:
*Maintaining inventory control records in an automated system for parts needed in
depot support and maintenance programs.
*Maintains a segment of a cataloging data base at a central cataloging facility
involving the records for a variety of electronic parts available for Federal use
in maintenance and repair operations.
*Plans, evaluates, and selects appropriate sites and facilities for storing
items.

B. GS-07: Education: To qualify at the GS-07 level based on education in lieu of
specialized experience, applicants must possess 1 full year of graduate level
education or Superior Academic Achievement (SAA). Such education must demonstrate
the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Education must be
from a college or university accredited by an organization approved by the U.S.

using education to meet basic qualifications, YOU MUST SUBMIT A TRANSCRIPT as
supplemental documentation.

C. GS-07: Combination: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school
education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for
the GS-07 grade level, and may be computed by first determining the applicant's
total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the
grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the
education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The
total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for
that grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for
the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at
grade GS-07.
D. GS-09: Specialized Experience: To qualify at the GS-09 level, applicants must
possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level.

specialized experience, applicants must possess a master's or equivalent graduate
degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading
to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Such education must demonstrate
