At TalentNomics, we have very different ideas about how the problem of economic
empowerment of women and girls should be tackled. We believe that solutions need
to be holistic and synergistic. We need to be better connected. We need to develop
mutually supportive networks of women and organizations across the world. We need
solutions to be experiential, focused on pragmatic actions that can be applied globally.
Moreover, we need to be collaborative with successful women and men role models
who inspire and impart their wisdom to develop the next generation of women leaders.
We need organizations to build inclusive and supportive work environments and
reimagine talent management. All these transformations need to converge and occur
simultaneously, effectively leveraging global connections, knowledge and technology.

3. The TalentNomics Conference on Innovation, Economic Growth and the Empowerment
of Women will showcase women and girl innovators, and innovations that empower them.
We will bring role models, women and men leaders, and policymakers who champion and
support women’s empowerment together with innovators and experts to provide inspiration.
The conference will be about discovery, and developing and implementing pragmatic
solutions. The conference will explore how innovation can narrow the earnings gap with
men, and alleviate gender inequality by increasing the representation of women in key
decision-making roles. TalentNomics will offer a platform to develop rich relationships with
peers across industries and job functions, and share knowledge and insights about innovation,
economic growth, and the empowerment of women.The conference will address key
questions, including:
What role does innovation have in driving new models of leadership?
Does the empowerment of women improve the quality and pace of innovation?
Are women better at certain types of innovation?
What is the critical role of innovation in creating new organizations, jobs, and the next generation
of global women leaders?
What actions can individuals take to bring about the desired changes?
Speakers will provide a multidimensional perspective about the incentives, infrastructure and
cultures that facilitate and hinder innovation and suggest concrete actions to spur innovation.

4. Inaugural Speaker
Carla Grasso oversees all the Fund’s administrative functions and the
IMF’s capacity-building and training work. Before coming to the
Fund Ms. Grasso worked for at Vale S.A., one of the world’s largest
mining companies, serving as Vice President for Human Resources
and Corporate Services. Before joining Vale S.A., Dr. Grasso served
as Secretary of the Brazilian Supplementary Social Security Office
and also served as Advisor in the Office of the President of Brazil.

Heidi Crebo-Rediker is the CEO of International Capital Strategies.
She served as the State Department’s first chief economist, appointed
by then Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, Prior to this, Ms.
Crebo-Rediker was the chief of international finance and economics
for the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, following nearly two
decades in Europe as a senior investment banker. She is the founding
co-director of the Global Strategic Finance Initiative at the New America
Foundation. She is a member of the Global Agenda Council for the US
for the World Economic Forum.

8. Kalpana Kochhar is the Deputy Director of the Asia Pacific Department,
and lead for analytical studies on gender issues at the IMF. Dr. Kochhar
has led the IMF‘s work on Japan, India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bhutan,
Nepal. Her research interests and publications have mainly focused
on studies of Asian economies, including India and China. Most
recently, Dr. Kochhar focused on issues related to India‘s growth,
financial and fiscal policies.

Luc Laeven is the Director-General of the General Research Directorate
of the ECB. Prior to this he was the Lead Economist of the Research
Department of the International Monetary Fund and he has also
worked at the World Bank. His research focuses on banking and
international finance issues, and has been widely published in top
academic journals, including the American Economic Review, Journal of
Finance, and Journal of Financial Economics. He is a Chaired Professor
of Finance at Tilburg University, and a Research Fellow of the Centre
for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) in London.

Regina Meredith-Carpeni is an executive vice president and COO for
Markets Group, which includes Foreign Exchange, Derivatives, at BNY
Mellon Capital Markets, LLC and BNY Mellon Capital Markets EMEA
Limited. Ms. Carpeni leads the development of the overall objectives,
policies and strategic plans to address the group’s domestic and
international geographical challenges; piloting change management
and thought leadership initiatives; and providing insight into new and
emerging best practices. Ms. Carpeni is a member of BNY Mellon’s
Operating Committee, CAO Roundtable and the Global Diversity

Sharmini Coorey is the Director of the IMF’s Institute for Capacity
Development, which provides policy-oriented macroeconomics and
finance training to government officials worldwide, raises funds for
the IMF’s technical assistance and training activities and manages
their governance. Her experience includes work on surveillance and
IMF-supported programs in Europe, Asia, Africa, and North and
South America as well as on various IMF policy issues. She holds

10. Linda Solomon is a partner at Deloitte, with over 25 years of experience
advising large, global organizations, both government and commercial,
on how to standup new operating models and leverage technology
investments. At Deloitte, she has spent over 12 years serving Chemical
and Oil & Gas companies such as ExxonMobil, Shell, Honeywell, and
Monsanto. In 2003, Ms. Solomon moved to the greater Washington, DC
area to assist Deloitte in launching its Federal Government practice.
Beyond her responsibilities, in the 90’s, Linda was asked by Deloitte’s
CEO to standup and lead Deloitte Consulting’s inaugural diversity
and inclusion efforts.

Innovation in the Nexus of Art and Science

BELLA GAIA is an unprecedented audiovisual experience that combines NASA satellite
imagery of Earth, time lapse nature photography, and cultural heritage footage with stirring
live performance by soloist, Kristin Hoffman.
Inspired by astronauts who spoke of the life changing power of seeing the Earth from
space, director-composer Kenji Williams’ award winning BELLA GAIA successfully simulates
the Overview Effect from space flight, by using NASA supercomputer data-visualizations

12. Session 4: Design Thinking and Innovation

Banny Banerjee is Director of Stanford ChangeLabs, and teaches Design
Innovation and Strategy at the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design. His
area of expertise is the use of Design Thinking for strategic initiatives
and large-scale transformations directed towards sustainable
futures. Prof. Banerjee focuses his research on processes, paradigms,
and integrated strategies to address complex challenges such as
the future of water, energy, governance systems, and organizational
transformations. Prof. Banerjee is regarded as one of the leading
experts on innovation strategy in sustainable transformations, and is
invited frequently to speak on emerging innovation methodologies.

global public sector leader. He has two decades of global experience
advising and managing project teams in planning/implementing
strategy. He is recognized for his industry knowledge, application
of information technology to complex challenges, and as a leader
in applying analytics to monitor/detect money laundering, fraud
and sanctions evasion.

Elizabeth Fleming is a Senior Advisor for innovation projects and
manages Shell’s relationship with the XPRIZE foundation. Ms. Fleming
is known for leading cross-disciplinary teams into new territory,
establishing the first settlement, building the initial infrastructure,
and defining the path forward. Prior to this, she has been an innovation
manager in Shell’s GameChanger group. Previously, she held a
wide variety of leadership positions including Program Manager
for Shell’s return to New Orleans post Hurricane Katrina, where
she led a broad effort to revitalize the city Her early career was in
Production Engineering, where she has published several papers
and holds a patent.

14. Jean Wynn is a Managing Director and Chief Administrative Officer
for the President of BNY Mellon. Ms. Wynn provides oversight to a variety
of companywide initiatives in the areas of organizational development,
sales effectiveness and employee engagement. Ms. Wynn also leads
BNY Mellon’s Global Innovation program. Ms. Wynn is a member of
the company’s Operating Committee, Diversity & Inclusion Council and
Enterprise Product Management Group. She also serves as co-chair of
BNY Mellon’s Women’s Initiatives Network (WIN) and is a co-founder
of the Women’s Wall Street Alliance. She is Vice President of the Alumnae

15. Session 7: Showcasing Young Innovators
Moderator: Neeti Banerjee, Founder and CEO, TalentNomics Inc. | 50 Minutes
ShopGirls Team from Granite Falls High School, Washington State (one of two all-girls teams
that competes in the Shell Eco Marathon, and their Coach, Michael Werner will share insights
from their journey. Shell Eco-marathon challenges student teams from around the world to
design, build and test ultra energy-efficient vehicles. With annual events first in the Americas,
then Europe and Asia, the winners are the teams that go the furthest using the least amount
of energy. The events spark debate about the future of mobility and inspire young engineers
to push the boundaries of fuel efficiency.

Swiss Airforce Technical School in Switzerland. He believes that
successful preparation for life and learning is more than good
grades and a graduation certificate. That students who have
an opportunity to engage the content learned in the academic
classroom learn to fully develop ideas, to persist at overcoming
failures towards success, to interact on teams with different
thinkers, and be accountable for their part in a process. They
emerge able to tackle very hard things.

16. Meet the Young Girl Innovators of
Granite Falls High School
Victoria Irvin
Victoria Irvin is a freshman at Granite Falls High School; she has been in the
Eco Car program for two years. She joined the ShopGirls team as a home
schooled eighth grader and is this year’s team co-manager. Victoria plans on
being an Engineer.
Maia Hanson
Maia Hanson is an alum of the ShopGirls team and currently in her senior year
at Western Washington University. She is working with the Math Club, Chemistry
Club, Biology Club, Association of Women in Computing, Association of Women
in Physics, and Society of Women Engineers, all in the hopes of inspiring young
girls to pursue their interests, whatever those interests may be.

Hannah Yadon is in her freshman year of High School. This is her first year as
a member of the ShopGirls Team. When she grows up she wants to be an
interior designer.
Kelsey Green
Kelsey Green is a Sophomore attending Granite Falls High School, and has
been a part of the Eco Car Program since she was in eighth grade. Kelsey is
the co-manager for the UrbanAutos co-ed team, and is the only girl on the
team. In the future, Kelsey plans to graduate from college with a mechanical
engineering degree.

Showcasing Innovations in Education from New Zealand and India

Frances Valintine is the Chair and Founder of The Mind Lab by Unitec.
Valintine previously led the Media Design School in New Zealand. In
2013, she established The Mind Lab - an inter-disciplinary learning lab
offering science, creative and technology programs for school groups
and professional development for teachers. In April 2014, The Mind
Lab merged with Unitec to deliver postgraduate studies in Digital
& Collaborative learning for New Zealand teachers. Ms. Valintine
is on several leadership boards. She is also this year’s recipient of
New Zealand Women Women of Influence Award for Innovation and
Women of the year for Education.

Ajit George advocates for the education of the underprivileged
and socially discriminated. As the Director of Operations for the
Shanti Bhavan Children’s Project since 2008, Mr. George and his
team have worked to alleviate severe poverty among members
of the Untouchable caste in India, by giving children an intensive,
long- term education over the course of 17 years from the age of
4 until they graduate from college. Mr. George also works with
the Indian Institute of Journalism & New Media and the Baldev

18. Session 9: Changing Gender Perceptions Through Media
Moderator: Catherine Lorenze, Former Radio Reporter and Political Consultant | 60 Minutes
Meghana Bhatt came to FEM Inc. after spending 10 years in
academia studying human decision-making. The main focus
of her research has been developing predictive mathematical
models of behavior that are based in biology and psychology.
She received her A.B. in mathematics from Harvard, and a Ph.D.
from Caltech in behavioral and neuroeconomics. In addition to
FEM Inc., she consults with the Human Neuroimaging Laboratory
studying the effects of narrative on learning and behavior.

Moderator: Ajai Chopra, Visiting Fellow, Peterson Institute for International Economics

Lisa Kolovich is working at the International Monetary Fund on
a two-year joint research project funded by DFID. Her research
examines gender budgeting initiatives as a tool for addressing
gender inequalities. Dr. Kolovich is also researching the relationship
between output diversification, growth, and gender inequality and
gender inequality and growth spells.

19. Session 11: Showcasing and Growing Innovators and Innovations in Medicine and
Academic Medicine
Moderator: Suparno Banerjee, Vice President, Hewlett-Packard | 60 Minutes
Giovanna Mallucci is the van Geest Professor of Clinical Neurosciences at the
University of Cambridge, and Program Leader and Head of Neurobiology
at the MRC Toxicology Unit. She is a practicing neurologist, specialized
in dementia and neurodegenerative diseases. Using mouse models,
Dr. Mallucci’s team discovered the first small molecule to prevent neuro-
degeneration, hailed as a ’turning point in the search for drugs that will
treat Alzheimer’s’. Dr. Mallucci also recently discovered that synaptic repair
processes are impaired in neurodegenerative diseases due to failure of a
stress response involving ‘cold shock’ proteins. Her team has successfully
harnessed this response for neuroprotection in mouse models of Alzheimer’s
disease, providing new targets for treatment and giving insight to the
protective mechanisms of hypothermia.

Mark Anderson is the William Osler Professor of Medicine, the director
of the Department of Medicine in the Johns Hopkins University School
of Medicine and physician-in-chief of The Johns Hopkins Hospital. An
outstanding scientist, teacher and caregiver, Dr. Anderson has focused
his research on the role of the protein CaMKII (Ca2+/calmodulin dependent
kinase II) in heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias, a cause of sudden cardiac
death. He has published more than 160 peer-reviewed journal articles,
book chapters and book reviews, and has been an invited speaker
throughout the United States and in more than a dozen nations.

Isabel Guerrero, Director of IMAGO Global Grassroots, is an economist,
a psychoanalyst, and now a teacher on Scaling Up for Development
Impact at Harvard Kennedy School and a Senior Lecturer in leadership
at Sloan School at MIT. Ms. Guerrero worked at the World Bank
for many years, most recently as the Vice President of the World Bank
South Asia Region, where she was responsible for a $39 billion loan
portfolio, a staff of 800, and managed $4.5 billion in Trust Funds.
Isabel is a Board member of the Presencing Institute and the Bianca
Jagger Foundation and a coach for women in senior positions
(Ministers and CEOs).

22. Neeti Banerjee, CEO
Neeti has deep expertise in Leadership Development, Talent and Change Management.
She has held senior leadership positions at the International Monetary Fund

international development and the energy sectors. Neeti has worked on four

Cathy has over 30 years of corporate management and consulting experience.
