3. 1.Project background
◈ Fatal falls is second leading cause of unintentional injury death
after road traffic injuries recorded by WHO.
◈ Most of the cases happen toward elder as they always prefer to
stay by themselves.
◈ This project is to detect if any falls happen
toward elderly who is living alone.
◈ Factors:
i) Hypertension & hypotension
ii) Heart attack
iii) Chronic numbness in feet 3

5. 3. Objectives
i) To develop a device that can detect any fall signs happen to the
elderly via using accelerometer and optical photoplethysmogram (PPG)
sensor .
ii) To send an alert SMS to emergency contact or family members if
the elderly fell.

7. 5. PROJECT MOTIVATION
Some of the project limited only cover to certain area and
some of it needs elderly to push button to send the alert.
Accelerometer still will be use in this project but will be
added with optical PPG sensor.
Only can detect if the elderly wear the devices.

◈ Reduce the number of fall incidents happen.
◈ Reduce worriedness for child who is having parent that stay
away from them.
◈ This project can be commercialize among elderly for their fall
