This document outlines a 12-week lesson plan for a 1st grade special education class to learn the months of the year. The class has 17 students, most are white, African American, or Hispanic. Seven students have ADHD. The goal is for students to identify, order, and recite the 12 months with 95% accuracy through activities like posters, songs, videos, and creating their own calendar. The teacher will focus on one month per week using materials like books, pictures, music, and art supplies. Students will be assessed based on participating daily and completing their calendar.

A-Teaching the months of the year to a 1st grade Special Ed class. This class has 10
boys, 7 girls, 70% white, 20% African-American, and 10% Hispanic. 7 students in the
class have mild to severe ADHD.
S-1st grade students will be able to identify, put in order, and recite the twelve months
of the year after working with posters, singing repetitive songs, playing interactive
games, watching educational videos, and creating their own calendar by the end of 12
weeks with a 95% accuracy.
S-Methods- Teacher will teach the months of the year by daily recitation and then
focusing one month, each week for 12 weeks. Media- Information during this lesson will
be presented via posters, I-Pad, and the smart board. Materials- Materials such as
books, pictures, music, games, images, and basic art supplies will be used during this
learning experience.
U- Teacher will prepare all media and materials needed prior to the start of the lesson.
Teacher will then make the students aware of the lesson they are about to begin and
what is expected as a result.
R- Student participation will be required daily as the class will review and recite the
months of the year daily via working with posters, singing songs, and playing games.
Students are also required to create their own calendar, a month a week, with
completion after the 12 weeks.
E- Teacher will assess students learning through an evaluation of the calendars created.
Teacher will also periodically evaluate the students based on participation during
activities, this will allow the teacher to plan for a better way of learning and help those
who may need extra attention.
