2. Where did the ideas come from
• We firstly chose a song from underground Alternative Hip Hop duo Chiddy bang
we did have a good idea already with how we wanted are video to look like. We
knew what sort of props and costumes to use and also had a rough idea of what
location to use. We then watched some videos that we thought could influence in
making a final decision. We watched Videos from inspirational Hip Hop artists such
as Kanye West , J Cole , Big Sean and many more after watching these video we
decided to follow the original conventions so fast paced editing flashy mise en
scene , studios what we found from these videos is that we had to make our Artist
look hip so dress him in caps chains flashing money etc. we knew that we had to
make our video look fairly simple and professional. We did decide to take the
artists that inspired us into consideration.
3. Final Decision
• When we finished our music we decided to make out video fairly redundant although
use some entropic connotations within our video we felt that we did need to keep our
video fairly redundant as I didn’t think that our audience would like too much of a
change of the original conventions of a music video although I did want to make my
work slightly entropic to make my video slightly edgy and different to the same hip hop
videos that are shown every day. We also thought that an entropic thing to do is to
introduce more text within our video as it is different to a every day music video and
would make our video more unique from others. Some videos that influenced us are

4. Conventions used by traditional Music videos and influences
Here is how much Kanye West all of the lights video
influenced us like him used a lots of shots which featured
text within I feel as if this challenged conventions of normal
hip hop vide0s which involve the male gaze. Throughout
our video we did not use the male gaze once this is strange
as a hip hop video as the male gaze is nearly always used.
5. Traditional conventions used
• We although tried to challenge original conventions by using
text as a big part of our video, did use traditional conventions
that are featured in most Hip Hop Videos here is a popular
convention that we used from traditional rap videos.

6. My Performer –Props ,Ethnicity
• My performer himself challenges original conventions as he a white male most
artists within the Hip Hop Genre are African American although this may
challenge the conventions I ensured that the costume that my artist wore
throughout the video links in with the every day costumes that Hip Hop Artists
wear.
7. Steve Neale-Instances of Repetition
and differences.
• I in some cases agree with Steve Neale I did copy a lot of my
ideas from previous artists as I saw it as an inspiration yet I did
use creativity and use my own ideas throughout my media
coursework I saw this as an advantage as I know that I have
used many popular conventions from the Hip Hop genre yet
my own ideas has made it slightly unique I wanted to keep my
work redundant so my audience know what Genre it is. My
Coursework throughout will have Conventions from this genre
due to the interest I have in it and also the large amount of
research that I have done.
