Hedy Lamarr was an Austrian-American actress and inventor. She was born in 1914 in Vienna to a wealthy Jewish family. As a young woman, she began acting in films and became famous for her controversial role in Ecstasy where she performed the first nude scene in a mainstream film. She later escaped an abusive marriage and fled to America where she had a successful film career but also studied engineering. In the 1940s, she co-invented an early technique for spread spectrum communications and frequency hopping which laid the foundation for modern Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cellular networks. Hedwig Eva Maria Kiesler was born the 9th of
November,1996 in Vienna(Austria) Emil Kiesler´s
daughter , a headmaster Of a bank in Vienna and kiesler
Gertrude, a soloist of piano, both were Jewish . After her
birth, her parents decided not to have more children and
her mother Gertrude(Tilly), gave up her degree of soloist
of piano to spend more time with her daughter. And her
father was busy as headmaster of the bank but HE spent
time with her to do some travels around the world. Her
family was very rich.
3. HER CHILDHOOD
Hedy started her studies with 4 years old .She
had private teachers who taught her some
languages, to speak and to write correctly English,
French, German and Italian. She had piano and
ballet classes. Since sHe was a child, Hedy stood
out because of her intelligent, her teachers said
and thought that she was exceptionally gifted.
5. HER BEGINNINGSShe started to study engineering with 16
years old, but 3 years later she left her studies
and she began to work in a theatre in Berlin
as an actress, with the famous director Max
Reinhardt. Soon ,Hedy developed a big
passion for the theatre but her parents didn´t
know it. She convinced her parents to allow
her to study in Berlin and they said “yes”.

appearing for the first time in the cinema with “Geld auf der
Strasse (1930)”.Her role was of a young girl in a night club.
She worked in a lot of theatre productions in Vienna which

in some films like :”Die Blumenfrau von Lindenau (1931)”,
“Die des Herrn DE Koffer (1931)”.However it was 1933 the
most important year in her career When she was 18,she met
Gustav Machaty, a cinema director, which produced the most
polemic film in her life: Ecstasy.
7. ACTRESSShe was the first actress which was completely
naked in a commercial film and she played an
orgasm on the screen. That orgasm scene made
her very famous. It was in Ecstasy shot in Praga
in 1932, when she was 18.
That film was isolated from the cinema. Her
father forced her to marry Fritz Mandl, one of
the richest men in the world. He had a factory
