  3. 3. What is Plan of Action? An action plan is a document that lists what steps must be taken in order to achieve a specific goal. The purpose of an action plan is to clarify what resources are required to reach the goal, formulate a timeline for when specific tasks need to be completed and determine what resources are required.

Elements of the Action Plan In developing an action plan, keep in mind these important points: • Identify clear responsibilities for learners, supervisors, co-workers and trainers. • Develop a specific time schedule for completing activities. • Identify resources necessary to complete the activities, including plans for acquiring those resources. • Instruct learners to use a learning journal to help facilitate the development of an action plan. A learning journal is a notebook in which learners document issues, problems, additional needs for skills development and questions that arise as new knowledge and skills are applied on the job.

  8. 8. Monitoring Monitoring the plan helps to ensure that the solution is being implemented as expected. Evaluating the solution occurs after the plan has been implemented and provides an indication of whether the solution has rectified the problem. In order to monitor the plan the following questions should be asked: Has each step been implemented correctly? Has each step been implemented on time? Has the expected outcome materialized from the completion of each step?

  10. 10. Reviewing each action The final step is to develop a process to evaluate the success of your Action Plan. This is the start of an ongoing, long-term process which needs to be both rigorous and well-planned.
  11. 11. Some important questions to consider are…  Did the action reach the people it was meant to? If not, why?  Did the action or activity have a positive impact on your employees’ mental health? If so, to what extent? (Examples might include more employees talking openly about mental health or more employees seeking support in or outside the workplace).  How effective has the action been at producing intended changes in the workplace?  Are there any factors outside of the action that have contributed to (or prevented) the desired change?  Has the action resulted in any unintended change?  What progress has been made toward achieving the overall goal?
  12. 12. Ganga Action Plan A detailed plan of activities with milestones to be achieved will be formulated for approval of the Authority. This would include timelines and budgetary resources. Essential preliminary activities in this regard have been initiated. These are:  Preparation of a River Basin Management Plan for the Ganga Basin  Preparation of a Status paper on Ganga  Preparation for the action plans for the hotspots like Haridwar, Kanpur, Allahabad, Varanasi, Patna, etc. in consultation with the State Governments.
  13. 13.  Discussion of modalities of setting up of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs ) at appropriate locations as a means of mobilizing private sector resources and achieving efficiencies.  Mapping of the Ganga Basin  Preparation of a Compendium of sewage treatment technologies  Preparation of memorandum of agreement to be signed between the Central Government, State Governments linking flow of funds to achievement of agreed milestones.
