SUPPORTING THE TRAINEE JOURNEY
Each traineeship contract involves a number
of different parties. In addition to the trainee
themselves, the employer, the Registered
Training Organisation, the NSW Department
of Education & Communities and the
Australian Apprenticeships Centre all have
a role to play.
All parties contribute to a robust and
supportive traineeship network.
The primary objective is to ensure that
each trainee successfully completes
their traineeship and has all the support,
guidance and assistance they need
throughout the term of their program.

What is a traineeship?
A traineeship is Government funded training that allows an individual to gain practical
experience through workplace employment and complete a formal nationally
recognised training program while obtaining a wage.
It is important to understand that an apprenticeship differs from a traineeship.
Whereas an apprenticeship focuses on trade-based vocational training and runs
over a three to four year period, a traineeship focuses on business-based vocational
training and runs over a one to two year period.
Traineeship programs
REINSW offers traineeships in CPP30211 – Certificate III in Property Services
(Agency), undertaken over 12 months. This qualification includes the units required
by NSW Fair Trading for a Certificate of Registration.
Who is eligible?
Anyone who is of working age may be eligible to apply to become a Government
funded trainee. Whether you are a school-leaver, re-entering the workforce or looking
for a career change, you can apply to become a trainee. You do not need to have
completed the HSC or any other qualification.

How to get started
If you are a job seeker wishing to undertake a traineeship, you need find
an employer that is looking to employ a trainee. An Australian Apprenticeships
Centre, Centrelink and local employment agencies will be able to provide you
with details of such employers.
What does a traineeship include?
•	 Paid employment under an appropriate industrial arrangement
•	A traineeship agreement between the employer and trainee that is registered
with the NSW Department of Education  Communities
•	On-the-job training and a structured training program delivered
by a Registered Training Organisation (such as REINSW) that leads
to a nationally recognised qualification
What does an employer need to provide to a trainee?
•	The opportunity to develop key skills and acquire relevant knowledge of the industry
•	 Access to structured on and/or off the job training
•	 Time at work to undertake structured training
•	 Time off work to attend training when necessary – 15 hours per month
•	 A safe working environment
•	 Other benefits as specified in the traineeship agreement
Cost for employer
The total administration fee for the CPP30211 – Certificate in Property Services
(Agency) qualification is $1310 to eligible trainees. This fee is split into two payments
of $655 each, with the first instalment payable upon enrolment.
The administration fee detailed above is aligned with the Smart and Skilled 2015
prices, fees and subsidies document, as well as the NSW Smart and Skilled fee

By completing a traineeship, will
I be eligible to apply for a Certificate
of Registration?
Yes. The initial learning units for
CPP30211 – Certificate III in Property
Services (Agency) include the
competencies needed in order
to apply for a Certificate of Registration
from NSW Fair Trading.
What are my responsibilities
as the employer of a trainee?
As the employer of a trainee you
will need to provide guidance and
support to them throughout the
traineeship learning program.
This includes on-the-job training.
REINSW will also provide relevant
assessment support and general
assistance to guide your trainee
through their program.
How much paperwork and
administration is involved?
Paperwork and administration is involved,
however REINSW and the Australian
Apprenticeships Centre provide
support along the way to ensure
a smooth process.
Will I lose the trainee from the office
set days a week so that they can
attend training?
REINSW traineeships are conducted
via blended learning combining
correspondence and eLearning,
so you will not lose your trainee to
external training during the week
(unless you agree to do so as part
of the trainee’s training plan upon
commencement).
Am I obliged to provide study
time to the trainee during the
working week?
Yes. The NSW Department of Education
 Communities has introduced a
Vocational Training Order stipulating that
all trainees must be assigned a minimum
of three (3) study hours in a working week
in order to undertake their traineeship.
Which comes first – the trainee
or the role?
The employer must first identify the need
for the role within the business. Once the
need has been identified, the incoming
candidate may meet the trainee funding
criteria and undertake the traineeship.
What are the eligibility requirements
for a trainee?
The criteria for eligibility or Government
employer incentives, varies by individual
and qualification. To ensure you receive the
correct information we recommend you
contact the Australian Apprenticeship Centre
at www.australianapprenticeships.gov.au.
However to give you an idea, below
is a list of some of the elements within
the criteria:
•	 Aged 16-64 years of age
•	New to real estate or have limited
experience
•	Have not completed another vocational
qualification at Certificate II or above.

Real Estate Traineeships Sydney - Reinsw

  • 1. SUPPORTING THE TRAINEE JOURNEY Each traineeship contract involves a number of different parties. In addition to the trainee themselves, the employer, the Registered Training Organisation, the NSW Department of Education & Communities and the Australian Apprenticeships Centre all have a role to play. All parties contribute to a robust and supportive traineeship network. The primary objective is to ensure that each trainee successfully completes their traineeship and has all the support, guidance and assistance they need throughout the term of their program. Trainee Registered Training Organisation (e.g. REINSW) Employer Australian Apprenticeships Centre NSW Department of Education & Communities What is a traineeship? A traineeship is Government funded training that allows an individual to gain practical experience through workplace employment and complete a formal nationally recognised training program while obtaining a wage. It is important to understand that an apprenticeship differs from a traineeship. Whereas an apprenticeship focuses on trade-based vocational training and runs over a three to four year period, a traineeship focuses on business-based vocational training and runs over a one to two year period. Traineeship programs REINSW offers traineeships in CPP30211 – Certificate III in Property Services (Agency), undertaken over 12 months. This qualification includes the units required by NSW Fair Trading for a Certificate of Registration. Who is eligible? Anyone who is of working age may be eligible to apply to become a Government funded trainee. Whether you are a school-leaver, re-entering the workforce or looking for a career change, you can apply to become a trainee. You do not need to have completed the HSC or any other qualification.   • 2. How to get started If you are a job seeker wishing to undertake a traineeship, you need find an employer that is looking to employ a trainee. An Australian Apprenticeships Centre, Centrelink and local employment agencies will be able to provide you with details of such employers. What does a traineeship include? • Paid employment under an appropriate industrial arrangement • A traineeship agreement between the employer and trainee that is registered with the NSW Department of Education Communities • On-the-job training and a structured training program delivered by a Registered Training Organisation (such as REINSW) that leads to a nationally recognised qualification What does an employer need to provide to a trainee? • The opportunity to develop key skills and acquire relevant knowledge of the industry • Access to structured on and/or off the job training • Time at work to undertake structured training • Time off work to attend training when necessary – 15 hours per month • A safe working environment • Other benefits as specified in the traineeship agreement Cost for employer The total administration fee for the CPP30211 – Certificate in Property Services (Agency) qualification is $1310 to eligible trainees. This fee is split into two payments of $655 each, with the first instalment payable upon enrolment. The administration fee detailed above is aligned with the Smart and Skilled 2015 prices, fees and subsidies document, as well as the NSW Smart and Skilled fee administration policy. By completing a traineeship, will I be eligible to apply for a Certificate of Registration? Yes. The initial learning units for CPP30211 – Certificate III in Property Services (Agency) include the competencies needed in order to apply for a Certificate of Registration from NSW Fair Trading. What are my responsibilities as the employer of a trainee? As the employer of a trainee you will need to provide guidance and support to them throughout the traineeship learning program. This includes on-the-job training. REINSW will also provide relevant assessment support and general assistance to guide your trainee through their program. How much paperwork and administration is involved? Paperwork and administration is involved, however REINSW and the Australian Apprenticeships Centre provide support along the way to ensure a smooth process. Will I lose the trainee from the office set days a week so that they can attend training? REINSW traineeships are conducted via blended learning combining correspondence and eLearning, so you will not lose your trainee to external training during the week (unless you agree to do so as part of the trainee’s training plan upon commencement). Am I obliged to provide study time to the trainee during the working week? Yes. The NSW Department of Education Communities has introduced a Vocational Training Order stipulating that all trainees must be assigned a minimum of three (3) study hours in a working week in order to undertake their traineeship. Which comes first – the trainee or the role? The employer must first identify the need for the role within the business. Once the need has been identified, the incoming candidate may meet the trainee funding criteria and undertake the traineeship. What are the eligibility requirements for a trainee? The criteria for eligibility or Government employer incentives, varies by individual and qualification. To ensure you receive the correct information we recommend you contact the Australian Apprenticeship Centre at www.australianapprenticeships.gov.au. However to give you an idea, below is a list of some of the elements within the criteria: • Aged 16-64 years of age • New to real estate or have limited experience • Have not completed another vocational qualification at Certificate II or above.
