1. PRO OR ANTI ABORTION
By
Rachel Amarante, Deb Mininberg, and Sarah Garcia
2. Introduction
Abortion is a very controversial topic in the world today. Pro-choice
and Pro-life both have convincing arguments. Each side bring up many good
points dealing with religion and the right for a woman to control her own body.
Abortion is largely debated and the two websites we found both give support
to their side. Pro-choice is the view that a woman should have complete
control of her fertility and if she wants to terminate the baby, that it should be
her choice to do so. Having a child is a personal choice that affects a
woman’s life greatly. They also argue that without abortions being
legal, mothers might turn to other illegal abortions. The pro-life view believes
that a fetus is a person and should have the right to live. The view also
believes that human life begins at conception. Christian morality has been
greatly involved in the pro-life movement. The deliberate destruction of
human life is considered ethically and morally wrong. Abortion is debated
largely, these websites give reasons for both sides.
3. Pro Abortion Fallacies
Our second article was “Why Abortion is Moral” by Elroy
is a website supporting abortion with facts found from various
unstated sources, but two we know being his own moral
viewpoint and the bible. Elroy is not a biased man he simply
found scientific and religious data to back up that abortion is
not murder. That it is in fact, “an absolutely moral choice for
any woman wishing to control her body.” It is his own
research, and he even states arguments said by anti-
abortionist that he easily contradicts. For example, when he
states that anti-abortionists do not believe women should be
able to take a pill called RU-486 because it flushed the
women’s uterus of all its nutrient-rich lining clearing the zygote
of any capable nutrients which then proves that the zygote is
not a living being because it is dependent on the mother:
Elroy’s main point which is that abortion is moral because the
zygote is not a yet a person.
4. PRO ABORTION
HTTP://WWW.ELROY.NET/EHR/ABORTIONANSWERS.HTML
“Why Abortion is Moral” by Brian Elroy McKinley
Written and edited between 1995-2008
The website domain is .NET
The author discusses a lot of debated topics and
morality with the church.
The website is not the best quality because the
website is very bias. There is no right or wrong
answer regarding abortion, there is only opinion.
The websites point of view is that women should
have there choice regarding abortion because it is
their body.
5. Anti Abortion Fallacies
The fallacies for the website are that women cannot
get coverage from Medicare to terminate a
pregnancy.
They cannot afford to terminate the pregnancy so
they must continue with it. This is a fallacy because
there are other places that will terminate the
pregnancy.
There are laws that protect women who have been
raped so they can get an abortion but many are
refused. They have to use money that they really
need for the abortion and thus causes problems for
the future. This is also a fallacy because when they
report a rape the state will immediate assist them.
6. ANTI ABORTION

“No Abortion, No Exception” by Stephanie
Poggie, Center for American Progress.
Written on April 28, 2005
The website domain is .ORG
The author is the executive director of the National
Network of Abortion Funds
The website is not the best because it is an
opinionated article that is very bias.
The websites point of view is that women should
not have abortions for any reason.
7. Conclusion
Both websites back up their point of view with logical reasons.
The Pro-choice side gives more reasons without fallacies. The
author, Brian Elroy McKinley, states valid arguments and goes into
great detail about the fetus and the mother’s decision to abort her
pregnancy. The pro-life website states that woman can not afford to
terminate the pregnancy therefore they will continue it and it also
says the Medicare doesn’t give money for abortion. The pro-choice
website doesn’t give many fallacies and discusses both sides of the
issue and clearly explains how the fetus is alive, it is a human, but it
is not a person and it is not physically independent. The website
states that abortion is not murder and that it is “a moral choice for
any woman wishing to control her body.” This websites is the more
reliable of the two because it has the least amount of fallacies.
