Notes de l'éditeur
RI staff to introduce session and brief overview of topics to be covered before introductions.
Barry to introduce self
Joey to introduce self.
Briefly run through agenda.
Overview learning objectives – there is so much that could be covered in 50 minutes, so it’s difficult, but the purpose of this session is to get participants thinking about ways they can approach membership development in their own districts. Most things that will be discussed are intuitive, so leverage the knowledge in the room to bring forward participants’ experiences.
The facilitators will overview, briefly, background information on these objectives to help stimulate further discussion.
Please ask questions throughout.
Prompts:
What are your strategies for attracting new members?
What are your tactics for engaging your current members?
Why do people join Rotaract (or Rotary)? – Friendships and Local Impact
Where do you see opportunities for membership development?
Purpose of this discussion is to get participants thinking through the membership development processes within their own districts and identify opportunities to improve – look for strengths and weaknesses and build a plan based on priorities.
District goals are only as good as the clubs there to fulfil them. District goals should stem from clubs and the DRR’s primary function is to serve the clubs. Emphasis should be on the clubs’ goals to attract and retain new members and district planning should be built to support those objectives and encourage and foster further development and growth.
The requirements to start a Rotaract club are minimal, but you can provide the new club insight into how good Rotaract clubs function. Be the expert resource and ensure that club leaders are set up for success.
Prompts:
How can the district/DRR support new Rotaract clubs?
Be the voice at the district level for all of the Rotaract clubs in the district – being DRR is not only about supporting the clubs in the district, it’s also about representing and advocating for Rotaract within your Rotary district.
Prompts:
What are ways the DRR can work to promote Rotaract within their Rotaract clubs? How can they inspire clubs?
How have you inspired a club other than your own to improve or grow?
Possibilities: utilizing social media or other means to connect with clubs, visiting clubs and presenting at meetings (sometimes an “official visit”).
Briefly explain context/next part of activity (generating the actions the DRR will take). Outcomes could be goals, or just results.
Facilitators to get volunteers to share after this stage of the activity what they came up with.
Example answers:
Resources available to clubs to help disseminate information about Rotary
Members become inspired to apply for club or district leadership positions
Facilitators to indicate at what point groups should decide on a topic and begin creating an action plan.
Discuss/review if attendees feel learning objectives have been achieved – answer any outstanding questions.
