4. There are two types of prescription:
Precompounded prescription:
Prescription for already prepared drug (by pharmaceutical
companies) e.g. Cap. Ciprofloxacin (500 mg) etc.
Extemporeous/Compounded prescription:
The pharmacists prepare the medication according to the
drugs and dosages directed by the physician.

- More commonly Rx is thought to be an
abbreviation of a latin word “Receipe” it means
‘take thou’ or ‘you take please’ and order to the
pharmacist or dispenser for preparing medicines.
- Rx may be derived from the egyptian “eye of
horus” symbol denoting health or may be a
symbolic appeal by physians to the god
