2. Returned to Mumbai on 19 March with a
deeper sense of satisfaction at World
Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction Sendai
Japan, where I presented a paper and had the
opportunity to share our views to envisioned
the future policies and plans to empower
people to minimize loss of lives and threats to
sustainable development.

3. One more small recognition has made us
overwhelmingly happy. It is known to you that we at
Saritsa Foundation have been advocating and
practicing People Centered, People Led and People
Owned concept of Disaster Risk Reduction since birth
of Saritsa Foundation 15 years ago. I am very happy
that Madam, Margareta Wahlstromm, head of the U.N.
Office for Disaster Risk Reduction Geneva highlighted
our concept and said “the adoption of the new global
agreement on Disaster Risk Reduction signals the
dawn of a new era. After almost 30 hours of intense
negotiations, development leaders and government
officials from 187 countries and other contributors,
finally reached an agreement where a new global
framework that will usher in a more “solid” and
“people-centered” disaster risk reduction policy
