Counseling
 The FamilySupportCenterhasa licensedandtrainedclinicalstaff toassistfamiliesandindividualsindealingwithmanyof life'svariousstressors.
 Alongwithofficesdesignedfortraditionaltherapy,all locationshave roomsavailableforplaytherapy,whichhelpschildrenexpresstheiremotionsin
theirnatural language of play.
 As statedinthe missionstatement,The FamilySupportCenterisdevotedtoprotectingchildren,strengtheningfamilies,andpreventingchildabuse.
Our counselingserviceswere establishedwiththatgoal inmind.
 Personsinterestedincounselingcancall any FamilySupportCenterlocationandspeakwitha clinician.The clinicianwilldetermine if treatmentatthe
Centerisappropriate.
 Feesforcounselingservices,grouptherapy,andparentingclassesare chargedonthe state'sslidingscale,takingintoconsiderationthe client'sincome
and familysize.
 The FamilySupportCenteralsoacceptssome insurance plansandMedicaid.
CrisisNursery
 CrisisnurseriesinMidvale,Sugarhouse,andWestValley.
 CrisisNurserycare isavailable toanyparentwhoneedsit.Nofee iseverchargedfor nurseryuse.The CrisisNurseriescanbe usedfor:preventing
abuse and neglectof children,stressbreaks,medical emergencies,appointments,legal obligations,jobsearching,interviews,familyemergencies,and
othercrisissituations.
 Care at a FamilySupportCenter'sCrisisNurseryisprovidedinrenovatedolderhomeswithwarm,homelike atmospheres,situatedinquietresidential
neighborhoods.Crisisinterventionbythe clinical staff isavailable24hours a day.Rotatingshiftsof houseparents,directedbyaCrisisNurseryDirector,
provide 24 hour,365 daysper yearcare. The Nurseriesdohave scheduledclosures,buttheycanbe openedinthe eventof an emergency.
 Fostergrandparentsandtrainedvolunteersalsoassistincaringforchildren.Manyof the house staff are bilingual,whichensuresaccessbyall members
of the SaltLake County'sdiverse population.
 Childrenunderthe age of 12 can stay froma couple of hours upto 72 hourseachtime theyare admitted.Eachnurserycanhouse as manyas eight
overnight.Since the CrisisNurseryProgrambeganin1977, the FamilySupportCenterhasprovidedover1millionhoursof crisis/respitecare to young
childrenindangerof abuse,neglect,orabandonment.Inadditiontocrisisservices,the nurseryoffersparentstime-outbreaks.Thesebreaksare known

CrisisRespite Nursery
 The CrisisRespite Nurseryisdesignedtoprovide asafe,homelike environmentwhereparentscanbringtheirchildrenduring timesof stress.The
primarypurpose of the Nurseryischildabuse prevention.Examplesof possiblereasonsforusingthe nurseryinclude:medicalemergencies,financial
stress,familyviolence,divorce,parentingdifficulties,andpreviousabuse issues.
 The Nurseryisnot designedforuse asa daycare while parentsare atworkor in school.
 The CrisisRespite Nurseryisprovidescare forchildrenages0-11. Itis a free service,butwe askfor a $1 suggesteddonationateachNurseryuse.The
Nurseryserveschildreninthe Utah,Wasatch, Summit,JuabandMillardCounties.Unfortunately,the nurserycannottake childrenwithsevere physical,
medical,ormental disabilities.

 The concept behindthe hotline issimple.Whenacallerdials1.800.656.HOPE, a computernotesthe area code and firstthree digitsof the caller's
phone number.The call is theninstantaneouslyconnectedtothe nearestRAINN membercenter.If all counselorsatthatcenterare busy,the call issent
to the nextclosestcenter.The caller'sphone numberisnotretained,sothe call isanonymousandconfidentialunlessthe callerchoosestoshare
personally-identifyinginformation.
 WhenRAINN wasfounded,we surveyedthe directorsof dozensof rape crisiscentersandstate andnational anti-sexual assaultorganizationsaswell as
manyvictimsof sexual violence.The advice wasunanimous:The bestsupportservicesforrape,sexual assaultandincestvictimsare those offeredat
communityrape treatmentcenters.
 Each local centeris the bestresource forvictimsinitscommunity,notonlyforcounselingbutalsoforinformationaboutcommunityresourcesand
emergencyprotocols.Inaddition,becauserape andsexual assaultlawsvarybystate,local centersare inthe bestposition toadvise survivorsonthe
legal aspectsof the crime.
 RAINN doesnothave any recordof a caller'sphone numberorname.Callersalwayshave the choice of whetherornotto share theirreal name or
phone numberwithcounselors;theyare neverobligatedtoreveal thisinformation.Inotherwords,we willknowwhoyouare onlyif youchoose totell
us.
 If a callerisunderage 18 andchoosesto share personally-identifyinginformationwiththe counselor,moststatesrequire the counselortonotify
authoritiesof the sexual assaultof a minor.Onlyinthissituation — whenaminorcallsandchoosesto reveal identifyinginformation — doesthe pledge
of confidentialitynotapply.
 While almostall callersare connecteddirectlytoa counselor,ahandful of ourlocal affiliatesuse anansweringservice afterregularbusinesshours.In
these cases,callersmaychoose toleave aphone numberwiththe answeringservice,inwhichcase the numberwill be confidential andwillbe given
directlytoa counselortocall back. Or, callersmaychoose to call back duringbusinesshours,whentheywillbe connected directly.

core values,andpersonal responsibilitythroughhonestyandhealthyinterpersonal boundaries.
VictimServices
 ACSlicensedtherapistsare trainedincounselingwithvictimsof sexualassault,domesticviolence,andotherformsof abuse.
 Victimtreatmentfocusesonunderstandingandcopingwithposttraumaticstressdisorder,self-conceptafteroffense,allowingyourself time toheal,
and otherindividuallybasedgoalsasneededbythe client.

 ISAToffersseveral differentprogramsforadultsex offenders.
 Each program is structuredaroundthe ISATSexual OffenderLevelSystemandTreatmentPlan.
 The programs include the OutpatientProgram,IntensiveOffenderProgram, andSpecial NeedsSex OffenderProgram.Allprogramsare available to
bothmale and female individuals.
 The ISAT Sex OffenderTreatmentProgramsare designedtoinvolvenotonlythe sexual offender,butvariousfamilymembers,significantothersand
those individualsaffectedbythe inappropriate andillegalbehavior.

DomesticAbuse Program
 The HELP Programwas designedtoassistindividualsandfamiliesdealingwiththe problemof domesticviolence.
 The premise of the HELP program isthat love andpowermustbe experiencedequallyforarelationshiptobe healthy.
 The goals of the ISAT HELP program are to developanunderstandingthatviolenceisneverjustified;thatabusivenessisalearnedbehavioranda
maladaptive attempttoeffectchange ina relationship.
 Individual andgrouptherapyare offeredtoclients,aswell asfamilytherapywhenappropriate.
 ISATprovidesspecializedtherapyservicestovictims,children,and offenders,withgoalswhichare individualizedtotheiruniqueexperience.
Substance Abuse Program
 The successof ISAT’ssubstance abuse treatmentprogramisbasedonhelpingclientsunderstandthattheycanchange chemical abuse patternsand
associatedcognitive distortionsandthinkingerrors,while increasingfeelingsof self-control,self-worth,andempowerment.
 Otherobjectivesfocusonhelpingclientsidentifycyclesof behaviorandlearnstressmanagementandsobrietyskills,inadditiontocommunication,
relaxation,problemsolving,andrelapse preventionskills. Thisisnotintensive outpatient therapy,clientswithmoreserioussubstance abuse problems
may be referredtootheragencies.
