JNV Vizianagaram recognizes that the use of technology plays an important role in improving the
quality of instruction and is a tool for the entire learning community. Students graduating from JNV
Vizianagaram must possess the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to succeed in an
increasingly complex, global, information-based society.

Outcome on Student Learning

By graduation, students will have participated in a number of Internet-based learning activities and
explorations of complex problems that stimulate curiosity and logical thinking, build recognition of
relationships and connections between subject areas, require students to synthesize information,
produce a variety of report formats, and excite an interest in life-long learning. As outlined in the PUSD
Technology standards, students will be able to do the following before graduation:

 Manage files and select storage media (hard drive, CD, ZIP, USB, etc.)

 Understand the applications and impact of technology on the work world and environment

         Manage information (bookmarks, address
             books)

         Use technology-based simulations (stock
             market, probeware)

 Apply productivity tools, and integrate
applications (e.g., copying from Word to
             PowerPoint)

 Use technology as a tool to communicate appropriately with peers, experts, teachers, and
             the community

Gather, organize and synthesize information from Internet and online subscriptions. Apply information
literacy skills to evaluate information for legitimacy, authority, and bias, and synthesize research to write
reports, solve problems, make informed decisions, and support arguments.

Communicate and collaborate with distance partners (other classrooms, other schools, other countries,
etc.) through email, discussion boards, etc.

Become informed and contributing citizens and community problem-solvers through technology
applications. Projects will foster students’ basic computer skills so that students can learn and apply
intermediate skills for the following CTAP areas:

Word Processing – creating documents that include borders, bullets, headers, footers and graphics
Publishing – creating documents with multiple text columns, layering of text and graphics, layers of
objects, and other elements of basic page design

Presenting – creating and presenting multimedia presentations that include clip art, transitions.
Students should also be able to print handouts, and sort and modify slides.

Accessing data – understanding applications of data bases, especially in science and social science.

Computing and Graphing – creating spreadsheets that contain formula cells; creating simple bar or pie
charts.

To complete their Computer Literacy requirement, students will be able to do the following, through
test or approved class:

Infrastructure

JNV Vizianagaram has been wired to provide at least one network drops in every classroom. JNV
Vizianagaram currently has a Local Area Network (LAN) with a fiber optic backbone that enables all
classrooms to connect with the Wide Area Network (WAN), and the Internet. Internet connectivity is
provided via a T1 line that connects the PUSD WAN. All learning areas of JNV Vizianagaram are wired for
network and Internet connectivity. JNV Vizianagaram currently uses one network servers of offer shared
resources. Three classrooms and work areas have been wired with CAT5 for data, telephone, and video
and coaxial for TV. JNV Vizianagaram recognizes that it needs to upgrade its infrastructure on a
continual basis to meet existing and projected.

Hardware

JNV Vizianagaram hardware supports student learning, teaching, enhancement of curriculum, and
improvement of administrative duties. To ensure mastery of information literacy skills for all students,
the following technology-based learning resources have been purchased and distributed throughout the
learning environment for use with the Standard's Based Subject Curriculum.

Multimedia computers and subject appropriate software

Audio visual and computer check-out items for classroom use: Projecting devices, digital cameras, and
other computer peripherals Individual teacher stations are provided for curriculum development,
classroom management, and communication between student, teacher, parent and community Specific
equipment, by department, meeting the following needs-assessment criteria:
 What are the equipment specifications and all pertinent details?

 What are the budgetary considerations?

 How will the equipment be used to support or enhance the curriculum?

 Does this equipment meet or exceed District Guidelines?

 Have the specifications for the equipment been reviewed and meet minimum
            standards?

Inventory

JNV Vizianagaram's inventory of technology assets is maintained and updated using Intuit's TrackIt
Management System. Inventory is, also, supported by the Follet Library management system for the
purpose of checking out equipment and software for temporary use.

 Continuing to upgrade and enhance its hardware, software and network capabilities
 Offering and assisting teachers in the use and integration of technology into the Class room
            curriculum
Providing students opportunities to enhance their educational career through the use of application
software in the completion of assignments as mandated in the business environment.
Benefits of New Technologies
New technologies continue to contribute to new methods of learning. Many learners regularly utilize
multi-tasking to complete assignments. The introduction of twenty four hour television news has
created the expectation for instant information in brief relevant sections. The construction of news
pages on screen is usually a combination of a live broadcast, menus for other news sections, ticker tape
instant news messages, weather icons and live messaging options. Web sites have a similar feature with
many offering live streaming, Really Simple Syndication (RSS) to provide live updates to changing
content on web sites, instant messaging, forums, and blogging.
Considering these important factors about evolving learning styles, learning institutions (schools,
colleges and local authorities) need to review their current practices and consider how they can
maximize the potential of the new technologies. Web 2.0 technologies refer to features that allow
people to collaborate and share information online. A Web 2.0 site allows its users to interact with other
users or to change website content. Web 2.0 technology includes social networking sites such as Face
book, video sharing sites such as You Tube and Teacher Tube, Wikis where many users create and edit
online content, blogging sites such a Twitter where users can post thoughts and videos, mashups a web
page or application that uses and combines data, presentation or functionality from two or more
sources to create new services, and folksomies where items are categorized by tags to facilitate
searching.
Learning platforms (VLEs) which can be accessed at any time and from any location can provide a variety
of web 2.0 features that can support visual and auditory learning styles. The senior management team
of a school would need to have a clear vision of how they would wish to develop the web 2.0 features of
a Learning Platform (VLE) to support the learning environment. Following the theories of stakeholder
engagement all staff would have to be involved in the development of the vision for a learning platform
(VLE), with clear roles being identified for everyone involved. Training for all staff would be vital to
ensure that everyone had the skills and confidence to create resources and understand how to use them
to support learning. There can be difficulties in convincing people that the time and effort to create
these new resources is worthwhile so schools may wish to consider a gradual approach to the
development of a VLE. This may start with the development of resources for a specific year group or a
specific subject. The creation of a parents' area on the VLE can encourage interaction with the site
and help to raise awareness about the how children would be using the resources to support their
learning.
Our School exploits key web 2.0 features through the use of the learning platform. Personal blogs and
collaborative wikis are developed by pupils in school and at home and the results can be shared with
their classmates. Vokis (animated speaking avatars) can encourage even the most reluctant pupils to
record their thoughts. Interactive quizzes that can be accessed at any time can be created by the
teacher to provide feedback to pupils. Forums and chat rooms can encourage discussion between
pupils outside of school and can provide useful insight for the teacher.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) could be supported by video podcasts to exemplify good
practice, forums to encourage discussion between professionals and blogs to provide the opportunity
for reflection. Video conferencing provides opportunity for real-time collaboration and sharing of good
practice. Message boards including sites such as Wall Wisher http://www.wallwisher.com/could
provide areas for sharing ideas and web links. Work areas on the VLE where files could be uploaded and
downloaded, and the development of group Wikis could be used to encourage collaborative working
practice. Communication and administration could be enhanced by the development of staff areas to
include meeting agendas and minutes, course dates and timings, lesson planning, research materials
and RSS feeds from relevant organizations.

Jnv vizianagaram technology vision plan

  • 1. JNV Vizianagaram recognizes that the use of technology plays an important role in improving the quality of instruction and is a tool for the entire learning community. Students graduating from JNV Vizianagaram must possess the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to succeed in an increasingly complex, global, information-based society. Outcome on Student Learning By graduation, students will have participated in a number of Internet-based learning activities and explorations of complex problems that stimulate curiosity and logical thinking, build recognition of relationships and connections between subject areas, require students to synthesize information, produce a variety of report formats, and excite an interest in life-long learning. As outlined in the PUSD Technology standards, students will be able to do the following before graduation:  Manage files and select storage media (hard drive, CD, ZIP, USB, etc.)  Understand the applications and impact of technology on the work world and environment  Manage information (bookmarks, address books)  Use technology-based simulations (stock market, probeware)  Apply productivity tools, and integrate applications (e.g., copying from Word to PowerPoint)  Use technology as a tool to communicate appropriately with peers, experts, teachers, and the community Gather, organize and synthesize information from Internet and online subscriptions. Apply information literacy skills to evaluate information for legitimacy, authority, and bias, and synthesize research to write reports, solve problems, make informed decisions, and support arguments. Communicate and collaborate with distance partners (other classrooms, other schools, other countries, etc.) through email, discussion boards, etc. Become informed and contributing citizens and community problem-solvers through technology applications. Projects will foster students’ basic computer skills so that students can learn and apply intermediate skills for the following CTAP areas: Word Processing – creating documents that include borders, bullets, headers, footers and graphics
  • 2. Publishing – creating documents with multiple text columns, layering of text and graphics, layers of objects, and other elements of basic page design Presenting – creating and presenting multimedia presentations that include clip art, transitions. Students should also be able to print handouts, and sort and modify slides. Accessing data – understanding applications of data bases, especially in science and social science. Computing and Graphing – creating spreadsheets that contain formula cells; creating simple bar or pie charts. To complete their Computer Literacy requirement, students will be able to do the following, through test or approved class: Infrastructure JNV Vizianagaram has been wired to provide at least one network drops in every classroom. JNV Vizianagaram currently has a Local Area Network (LAN) with a fiber optic backbone that enables all classrooms to connect with the Wide Area Network (WAN), and the Internet. Internet connectivity is provided via a T1 line that connects the PUSD WAN. All learning areas of JNV Vizianagaram are wired for network and Internet connectivity. JNV Vizianagaram currently uses one network servers of offer shared resources. Three classrooms and work areas have been wired with CAT5 for data, telephone, and video and coaxial for TV. JNV Vizianagaram recognizes that it needs to upgrade its infrastructure on a continual basis to meet existing and projected. Hardware JNV Vizianagaram hardware supports student learning, teaching, enhancement of curriculum, and improvement of administrative duties. To ensure mastery of information literacy skills for all students, the following technology-based learning resources have been purchased and distributed throughout the learning environment for use with the Standard's Based Subject Curriculum. Multimedia computers and subject appropriate software Audio visual and computer check-out items for classroom use: Projecting devices, digital cameras, and other computer peripherals Individual teacher stations are provided for curriculum development, classroom management, and communication between student, teacher, parent and community Specific equipment, by department, meeting the following needs-assessment criteria:
  • 3. What are the equipment specifications and all pertinent details?  What are the budgetary considerations?  How will the equipment be used to support or enhance the curriculum?  Does this equipment meet or exceed District Guidelines?  Have the specifications for the equipment been reviewed and meet minimum standards? Inventory JNV Vizianagaram's inventory of technology assets is maintained and updated using Intuit's TrackIt Management System. Inventory is, also, supported by the Follet Library management system for the purpose of checking out equipment and software for temporary use. Technology Support JNV Vizianagaram committed to sustaining technology resources. PUSD currently provides technical support and training through the Learning Support Services (LSS), Information Support Services (ISS), and Technology Support Services (TSS) departments. A qualified LAN Administrator from the TSS department is assigned to JNV Vizianagaram for on-going support. Support by these departments is available beyond regular school hours, and remotely through the Wide Area Network (WAN). Additional support time is available from TSS utilizing a roving LAN administrator and LAN administrator teams. LAN Administrator The LAN Administrator, assigned to PHS by the Technology Support Services department, is responsible for performing a variety of technical resource services in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software and network. Coordination of software and support is provided to assure the smooth running of local and wide area network (LAN and WAN) operations. The LAN administrator trains users in the operation of LAN equipment, and facilitates the coordination of necessary staff development. The LAN administrator is an active participant in other assigned activities such as assisting with inventory duties, composing newsletters and bulletins, initiating purchase requisitions, and being member of the Technology committee. Software

Benefits of New Technologies New technologies continue to contribute to new methods of learning. Many learners regularly utilize multi-tasking to complete assignments. The introduction of twenty four hour television news has created the expectation for instant information in brief relevant sections. The construction of news pages on screen is usually a combination of a live broadcast, menus for other news sections, ticker tape instant news messages, weather icons and live messaging options. Web sites have a similar feature with many offering live streaming, Really Simple Syndication (RSS) to provide live updates to changing content on web sites, instant messaging, forums, and blogging. Considering these important factors about evolving learning styles, learning institutions (schools, colleges and local authorities) need to review their current practices and consider how they can
  • 10. maximize the potential of the new technologies. Web 2.0 technologies refer to features that allow people to collaborate and share information online. A Web 2.0 site allows its users to interact with other users or to change website content. Web 2.0 technology includes social networking sites such as Face book, video sharing sites such as You Tube and Teacher Tube, Wikis where many users create and edit online content, blogging sites such a Twitter where users can post thoughts and videos, mashups a web page or application that uses and combines data, presentation or functionality from two or more sources to create new services, and folksomies where items are categorized by tags to facilitate searching. Learning platforms (VLEs) which can be accessed at any time and from any location can provide a variety of web 2.0 features that can support visual and auditory learning styles. The senior management team of a school would need to have a clear vision of how they would wish to develop the web 2.0 features of a Learning Platform (VLE) to support the learning environment. Following the theories of stakeholder engagement all staff would have to be involved in the development of the vision for a learning platform (VLE), with clear roles being identified for everyone involved. Training for all staff would be vital to ensure that everyone had the skills and confidence to create resources and understand how to use them to support learning. There can be difficulties in convincing people that the time and effort to create these new resources is worthwhile so schools may wish to consider a gradual approach to the development of a VLE. This may start with the development of resources for a specific year group or a specific subject. The creation of a parents' area on the VLE can encourage interaction with the site and help to raise awareness about the how children would be using the resources to support their learning. Our School exploits key web 2.0 features through the use of the learning platform. Personal blogs and collaborative wikis are developed by pupils in school and at home and the results can be shared with their classmates. Vokis (animated speaking avatars) can encourage even the most reluctant pupils to record their thoughts. Interactive quizzes that can be accessed at any time can be created by the teacher to provide feedback to pupils. Forums and chat rooms can encourage discussion between pupils outside of school and can provide useful insight for the teacher. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) could be supported by video podcasts to exemplify good practice, forums to encourage discussion between professionals and blogs to provide the opportunity for reflection. Video conferencing provides opportunity for real-time collaboration and sharing of good practice. Message boards including sites such as Wall Wisher http://www.wallwisher.com/could provide areas for sharing ideas and web links. Work areas on the VLE where files could be uploaded and downloaded, and the development of group Wikis could be used to encourage collaborative working practice. Communication and administration could be enhanced by the development of staff areas to
