2. I believe that aged 12 years and over are the appropriate age for my political thriller film. However,
when subdividing this mass audience to a particular niche audience, my film is mainly aimed
towards an audience of people ranging from age 12 to 25. I believe that this audience category fits
well within my films concepts and ideas. This is because my film consists of many non-stereotypical
ideas, one main idea that influences this is the main character Oakley Smith, who encourages
younger people to be exhilarated by the brave actions he achieves. Also, with this character being
young and in a position of authority, can encourage teenagers and young adults to also be
courageous with their skills and pursue them to a high level. Furthermore, due to my British
orientated film with the narrative, location and characters, my film overall does relate to the British
people more, as they understand British regulation. However, due to my films globalised topic of
being based around politics, even though this may be British, politics effects everyone worldwide,
therefore, hopefully generating a wider audience to watch my film as well.

3. My audience of 12-25 year olds will have media usage by interacting more with modern day
technologically advances, like social media and the internet etc. Therefore, from this media
usage, people of this age are more likely to access news websites, thus being knowledgeable
about political subjects, the idea of equality, and the ability to be broader with their research,
which people of this age, no matter of the gender, will be more likely to be engaged with.
Overall, proving why the audience (to which I am aiming my political thriller film at) of this
particular age range is a good target audience for my thriller film. For example, the BBC
website, is a website known to be culturally correct, standard and often reports upon the topic
of politics, and also due to cross media convergence, can be accessed via anywhere and on
anything, further broadening my audience age range worldwide, this is because websites (like
the BBC) are available to access anywhere around the world.

4. The reason why attracting a specific target audience is so important is because of the fact that the
larger the audience the more money made, resulting in possible profits. Therefore, when doing
audience research into the forms of media usage and the concept of my film, helping to generate
this specific audience with modern day topics, like equality whilst including action and mystery are
all important aspects to consider when trying to engage an audience like mine, being the ages of
12 to 25. However, I do think that my thriller film will be successful within this region of engaging
this audience, due to my research into modern day media usage and where this gives more
freedom throughout their research (i.e. websites, like the BBC, who often post stories and events
regarding politics – being British).

5. MY AUDIENCE AND THE GRATIFICATIONS THEORY:
My political thriller film will match the entertainment factor of the Gratifications Theory as my film
does aim to be an enjoyable and fun experience. Furthermore, my film aims towards relating to
the diversion factor allowing the viewer to be immersed into a made up reality from everyday life,
this is also helped to be shown through various camera angles within my opening title sequence,
for instance the point of view shot helps the audience to be further immersed within the film and
further away from everyday life. Also, this is because my film is based on corruption of the British
government, in the fact of killing their own citizens to gain more power worldwide. In result, my
film is taking the idea of terrorism, but flipping it in a way that is the British Prime Minister who is
the one committing these crimes. Overall, relating to the gratification theory in some ways.
