Analysis of our survey
What is your gender? 
We were limited on gender for our sample due to the fact we go to an all 
girls school. Therefore, we would situate our music video to appeal to 
female audiences.
What is your age group? 
We will appeal to the audience of 16-19 year olds, as this was the most 
popular age group.
If you could choose one, which genre 
would you prefer 
Pop turned out to be the most popular genre 
and this influenced our choice of Jessie J’s 
song, ‘Casualty of Love’.
Why do you prefer this music genre? 
These answers are from people who chose 
pop and using their comments, we can use 
this to help our music video become more 
suited to their taste.
If you had to choose one, which artist 
do you prefer? 
Jessie J was the second popular artist. This 
shows that she is well renowned and it will 
be a good idea to use her song in our video.
How do you usually watch music 
videos? 
Youtube is the most popular medium to watch music videos. This 
would be a good place to distribute our music video.
Do you like to listen to Jessie J? 
The majority of our sample said ‘yes’, which 
therefore clarifies that she would be a good 
option to use for our coursework.
If so, which is your favourite music video? 
People who said yes, had their own say in which 
was their favourite Jessie J video. ‘Bang Bang’ 
and ‘Who You Are’ were the most popular 
choices. ‘Bang Bang’ is fast paced and appeals 
to a younger audience because Jessie J has 
collaborated with Ariana Grande and the rapper, 
Nicki Minaj. However, ‘Who You Are’ is more 
inspirational and meaningful. We can display the 
contrast of conventions within our music video.
What do you like about it? 
Their feedback has informed us 
what Jessie J has included in her 
videos, which we can apply to 
ours.
If you were to create a music video, 
would you make it narrative or 
performance based? 
Narrative is the popular 
answer, so our video will be 
mostly narrative based, but 
will have elements of 
performance.
