Activities:
• Reorientation of their annual viewbook – Using it to promote ideals of
environmentalism and sustenance
• New courses including community development and practical and marketable skills
for sustainability were started
• New Director of Sustainability appointed who promoted Dark Skies (reducing lighting
on campus) and reduced carbon emission initiatives in the campus.

New student-housing built to high sustainability standards which was co-
designed by students and staff
Developed an organic farm where students and alumni of the college
contribute for community engagement
Organised student-initiated community light bulb exchange programme in
order to make the island an exclusively compact florescent light lit area
Incorporated sustainable development into their in-house activities of
promotions by using recycled and chlorine free paper for their promotional
materials.

14. CONCLUSION
• Sustainable development have different meanings, priorities and
strategies within the diverse regions that exist across the world
• Recent trends have shown a shift from education, learning and
implementation to emphasize the need for continuous
engagement in sustainability in formal, non-formal and informal
settings in the education sector
• Education for sustainable development can be propagated across
nations through awareness, capacity building, research, monitoring
and evaluation
