Major innovation
“Apple I, Rising” 1976-1985
1. The Apple I credited as the first personal computer to be sold in fully
assembled form & the first personal computer to use a keyboard.
2. In technical terms, this was the first single-board, microprocessor based
microcomputer. It included a central processing unit (CPU), RAM, and basic textual-
video chips.
3. It could use a TV as the display system, then showing only text. Many machines at that time had no display
at all. With the Apple I, text appeared on screen then a fairly slow rate at 60 characters per second.
4. Jobs and Wozniak then took their new computer to the companies they were familiar with Hewlett-Packard
and Atari but neither saw much demand for a “personal” computer. Sitting in Jobs’ bedroom in Los Altos,
California, Jobs proposed that he and Wozniak start their own company to sell the devices.
5. It went on sale in July 1976 at a price of $666.66

Competitive situation in starting stage
1. Two major competitors: Commodore and Tandy. Both companies introduced a
computer the same year as the original Apple II, i.e., in 1977.
2. Tandy outsold the Apple II with its TRS-80.
3. Four years later in August 1981, IBM introduced its first personal computer to the
marketplace priced at $1,565
4. IBM had a formidable product launch, including a sophisticated TV ad campaign that
used a Charlie Chaplin-esque figure who became the mascot for IBM PCs
5. Apple publicly welcomed IBM into the fray, running a full-page ad in the Wall Street
Journal with a headline that read, “Welcome IBM. Seriously.”
6. Three years later (in 1984), Apple introduced the Macintosh. The two main competitors
then were Microsoft and Commodore again.
7. IBM remained an important competitor to Apple during the Macintosh years. However,
even though Microsoft were not selling computers, the Macintosh’s true competition
was Windows, that could run on IBM hardware, but also on the many clones and
compatibles (Compaq, Dell)

develop self driving software
• They will extend their portfolio to the others areas like
energy sector
• What do think about next cellphones ?
Future (ProjectTitan)
The rumor, that apple is running secretly project to
developing electric car and reportly known as project titan.
Undoubtedly, this would be one of the biggest surprises in
the coming years among the top future apple products that
could be launched by Apple.
Many recent reports have suggested that Apple is
gathering a team to build its own electric car and
consulting car building experts in this regard.
The recent news from the Wall Street Journal has reported
that Apple has plans to implement the self-driving
technology built using sophisticated vehicle software.
Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also believes that
Apple is still working on an Apple Car that will launch
between 2023 and 2025.

  • 9. Major innovation “Apple I, Rising” 1976-1985 1. The Apple I credited as the first personal computer to be sold in fully assembled form & the first personal computer to use a keyboard. 2. In technical terms, this was the first single-board, microprocessor based microcomputer. It included a central processing unit (CPU), RAM, and basic textual- video chips. 3. It could use a TV as the display system, then showing only text. Many machines at that time had no display at all. With the Apple I, text appeared on screen then a fairly slow rate at 60 characters per second. 4. Jobs and Wozniak then took their new computer to the companies they were familiar with Hewlett-Packard and Atari but neither saw much demand for a “personal” computer. Sitting in Jobs’ bedroom in Los Altos, California, Jobs proposed that he and Wozniak start their own company to sell the devices. 5. It went on sale in July 1976 at a price of $666.66 5

  • 11. Competitive situation in starting stage 1. Two major competitors: Commodore and Tandy. Both companies introduced a computer the same year as the original Apple II, i.e., in 1977. 2. Tandy outsold the Apple II with its TRS-80. 3. Four years later in August 1981, IBM introduced its first personal computer to the marketplace priced at $1,565 4. IBM had a formidable product launch, including a sophisticated TV ad campaign that used a Charlie Chaplin-esque figure who became the mascot for IBM PCs 5. Apple publicly welcomed IBM into the fray, running a full-page ad in the Wall Street Journal with a headline that read, “Welcome IBM. Seriously.” 6. Three years later (in 1984), Apple introduced the Macintosh. The two main competitors then were Microsoft and Commodore again. 7. IBM remained an important competitor to Apple during the Macintosh years. However, even though Microsoft were not selling computers, the Macintosh’s true competition was Windows, that could run on IBM hardware, but also on the many clones and compatibles (Compaq, Dell) Radio Shack TRS-80 Source: Oldcomputers.net Source: Oldcomputers.net Commodore PET 6

  5. Back in 1976 there were no iPods, iPhones, iPads, or internet. In fact, there were no PCs.  True, there were computers — the giant room- size variety then found at universities, big companies. Back then, it was still pretty much the punch-card era. For the most part, desk-top calculators did the math, and typewriters the word processing.  But about that time two young guys from California named Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs were about to change that. In 1975, they began work on what would become Apple I computer — essentially a circuit board — in Jobs’ bedroom In June of that year, for example, Wozniak typed a character on a keyboard and it appeared on a TV screen — believed to be the first time this happened Sitting in Jobs’ bedroom in Los Altos, California, Jobs proposed that he and Wozniak start their own company to sell the devices.  They agreed to go for it and set up shop in the Jobs’ family garage.
