2. OVERVIEW
• Introduction
• Pakistan’s Energy Sector
• Energy Supply
• Energy Consumption
• Resources Of Energy In Pakistan
• Causes Of Energy Crisis
• Outcomes Of Energy Crisis
• Helpful Solutions
• Useful Recommendations
3. INTRODUCTION
Energy is regarded as life
line of any economy &
most vital instrument of
socioeconomic
development of a country
Energy is crucial for
running machines in
industrial sectors, for
lighting our cities &
powering our vehicles etc.
5. ENERGY SUPPLY
“During 2009-10, Energy supply and per capita
availability of energy witnessed a decline of 0.64
% and 3.09 % respectively in comparison to
previous year”
Pakistan requires almost 15,000 to
20,000 MW electricity per day. Though,
currently it generates approx. 11,500
MW per day. You can estimate the
shortfall of around 4000 to 9000 MW
per day
6. ENERGY CONSUMPTION
Pakistan’s energy
consumption is met by mix of
gas, oil, electricity, coal and
LPG sources with different
level of shares
Share of gas consumption
stood at 43.7 %, followed by
oil 29.0 percent, electricity
15.3 percent, coal 10.4
percent and LPG 1.5
percent.

13. HELPFUL SOLUTIONS
Saving unnecessary energy
usage
• Electricity saving devices
• Awareness campaign for energy
saving
• Reduction in unnecessary
transportations
• Installation of effective
equipment/energy efficient in
industries
• Decreasing line/transmission losses
16. Short Term Plan
Import Electricity to Fulfill Industrial Needs
Overhaul the existing Power Distribution System
Reactivate the Closed Power Generating Units
Increase Numbers of Independent Power Producers
17. Mid Term Plan
Transformation of Existing Renewable
resources
Developing & Installing:
• Biogas
• Solar
• Wind & Micro Hydro Based Projects in Villages
18. Long Term Plan
Developing & installing
Coal based Power
Houses
Initiate agreements of
mega project with
energy extensive
countries for
sustainable energy
resources
Explorations of more
oil, gas, coal reserves
