The radio station imports its news bulletins from Sky, a national news service, as it does not have the funding or resources to produce its own news. Hard news stories come first, followed by softer stories to lighten the mood. While most stories are national in scope and focus on politics, crime, and education, the station aims to also feature at least one local "off the wall" story per broadcast that is more relevant to its specific community audience.

The soft news stories come after the hard news and turn the mood
around. They consist of TV personality, the off the wall story is
comedy and socially different to the hard and soft event. I know that
the news bulletins are imported from Sky and so are the hard, soft
and off – the – wall news stories. Negative stories; more national
than local. The political key words on off the wall stories are used to
keep the rest of the event at “Daisy Nook Garden bulletin short and
concise Centre”, and so some hard news stories that been added
from the station which they talk about about themselves for the
cultural politics, crime and education aspect.
Being a small community radio, the station does not have the
funding to get interviews with big TV personalities or the equipment
to go and make big interviews. Neither do they have the time to go
out and find the news forthemselves. Instead, they buy their news
off Sky, a national news bulletin. This is relevant to the Oldham
Community as it is relevant to anyone in Britain. However, Oldham
Community Radio always feature an off the wall story that is closer
to home. An example of this is an event for Daisy Nook Garden
Centre. By doing this, they are filling their specific audience’s needs.
Sky finds the news and broadcast it for them, with the option to buy
it off them.
