This document discusses how to create and promote a library brand through social media. It emphasizes that libraries now have new roles beyond what people knew from childhood, such as makerspaces and collaborative learning. An effective brand distinguishes a library and creates lasting impressions. The document provides tips for selecting social media platforms, using hashtags, engaging patrons to advocate for the library brand, and evaluating social media marketing plans. Creating logos, slogans, and posting consistently about programs are recommended for building a library brand.
This PowerPoint helps students to consider the concept of infinity.

social media.
8. Why create a
brand?
Libraries have new roles!
● People view libraries as
the libraries they knew as
children. They are
unaware of the learning
commons that libraries
have become.
● Share those new roles
through social media!
○ Makerspaces
○ Collaborative spaces
○ Curators of Information
○ Advertise the awesomeness
that is going on in the library
A brand will distinguish
your library program and
create a lasting impression
for your library patrons and
the community

One of the main goals for our department is to share our learning. As education changes, we have purposefully designed programs, professional development, and sharing strategies. These opportunities, such as Setting the Trend, Librarians as Leaders have allowed local area librarians to come together, learn from one another, and then share that information in a variety of formats.
When we are discussing our library program with stakeholders, we want our branding message to identify that libraries are instructional hubs of the school, they are learning commons, and they are important and necessary components of our school communities. We are about instruction, community, advancement, innovation, and personalization. As we strive to change perceptions, branding becomes an essential strategy to accomplish our goals.
