Annual Catholic School Art Show and Wine Tasting
The Futures in Education Foundation of the Diocese of Brooklyn will be hosting its
3rd Annual Catholic School Art Show and Wine Tasting at the RubitzCenter, 689
Queens Blvd., Jamaica, Friday, May1st, from 6 to 9 p.m.
The event will showcase the work of students from the 129 Catholic elementary and high
schools in the Brooklyn and Queens area. The tasting will include appetizers and a
variety of wines donated by Accent Wine Distributors. Tickets are available through the
Futures in Education Foundationfor $30 or at the door for $35. The price of the tasting
includes a complementary engraved wine glass. Donations are also appreciated.
Funds raised are used to give scholarships to disadvantaged students attending Catholic
schools in Brooklyn and Queens. With 40% of the 38,000 Catholic students in the
diocese living below the poverty line, it is essential to provide support to keep these
children in school.
TheFutures in Education Foundation ensures the continuance of Catholic schools in
Brooklyn and Queens by providing tuition assistance and program support to the neediest
of students and schools.
The foundation was established in 1989 and operates on a grant from the Diocese of
Brooklyn. The organization raises money to support Catholic education in the Diocese.
Ninety percent of the funds raised go toward scholarships for Catholic school students
with remaining funds paying for programs and special events.
The foundation offers a number of donation programs to supplement its scholarships
including the“Be an Angel to a Student” program, dinners and golf outings, and school-
business partnerships. The Futures in Education Foundation raises approximately $1 to
2 million annually allowing the organization to provide tuition assistance of $500 to
$1,500 per student.
