- 31. www.tenniswhizz.com Working with Parents • Don’t feel you always have to coach – Let them PLAY! • Wait for times for intervention – kids are frustrated / parents are frustrated • Many parents may not play tennis and will be anxious if they are doing or saying the right thing. • Demo how to roll, throw or hit to kids – Remember many parents will not know how to create a positive athletic environment. You are the expert! • Model praising for effort rather than results – parents naturally compare • Take the time to build a relationship – they are your greatest resource
