CAT is a National Level Management Entrance Test
conducted by the IIMs.
• CAT is multiple-choice based with negative-mark
penalties for wrong answers.
Marking Pattern
• The test consists of questions that evaluate a
candidate’s quantitative, verbal, and logical & data
interpretation abilities.

• 13 IIMs and more than 160 management schools
accept CAT scores.Acceptance

4. Eligibility for CAT
Admission through CAT - candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree,
with at least 50% marks or equivalent.
&
45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC),
Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA)categories.
Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s
degree/equivalent qualification examination and
those who are awaiting for final year result can also
apply.

• Only 2650 students got selected for IIMs.
Nearly 205,345 students
appeared in CAT year 2010-11.
• The result is declared by second week of January.
Earlier CAT was conducted
on the third Sunday of
November. The test duration
was two and a half hours.
• Apart from the aggregate score in CAT, candidates need
to clear cut-offs in each section of the CAT as well, in
order to be shortlisted for the group discussion /
personal interview round.
