3. BURNS BOG Burns Bog
Address: North Delta

A nature reserve with a boardwalk trail,
Burns Bog makes for a pleasant area to
walk and connect with nature.
Maintenance of the park is government
funded, making Burns bog part of the
public sector. There are no fees to
access the boardwalk.
As a side note, in elementary school I remember having a
field trip to the bog where we were taught about the
history of the bog and how to identify some of the plants.
I remember being particularly interested in two similar
looking plants, Labrador tea and Lambkill, which as one
might be able to infer from the names should not be
confused for one another.

Education/Coaching
Delview Secondary is the high school which I
attended. At the time, the main sports teams
that I remember being were both boys and
girls basketball, as well as boys rugby and
girls volleyball. The coaches for the teams
were also teachers at the school. The teams
were called the “Raiders”, with the mascot
being a viking-style character with a horned
helmet. As a public school, Delview is funded
by the government and thus is part of the
public sector (Lunn, 2021). The school has
two gymnasiums which allow for multiple
physical education classes to be held at
once. There is also a grassy field and a
gravel field which it shares with a
neighboring elementary school, and there is
a park across the street which has a baseball
diamond which was also sometimes used in
PE classes.
