What is Population?
Population in Simple Can be defined as the number of people's
living in any region, country or city.
For example-The number of people living in India as of February
2023 is approximately 1.5 billions as of latest United Nations data.
So this is the Population of India i.e.1.5 Billions.
So,now we can easily understand the term population that it
indicates the total number of individuals residing in ang region.
Total population of the world
reaches to 8 billion on 15
November 2022.
1. China
2. India
3. USA
4. Indonesia
5. Pakistan
The term population explosion made of two words
population and explosion.Population simply means total
number of people's living in any region and the term
explosion means sudden or dramatic increase of something
and here explosion indicates the rapid increase of
population in any region.
And Thus Population Explosion is the rapid or sudden
increase in the population of any region, country, state or
city.
For example from 1960 to 2023 the population of India
increased from 450.55 million to 1.41 billion people. And
this rapid increase of population of India in just 63 years is
the best example of population explosion.
• Population is the total
number of individuals
in a given geographic
region at a time.
• On the other hand
population explosion is
the phenomenon of the
rapid increase in
population.
1.High Birth Rate
Due to lack of awareness about the
negative impact of population and
lack of awareness about the use of
contraception, there has been
steady growth in the birth rate.
2.Low Infant Mortality Rate
Improvement in the field of
science, technology and health care
facilities has reduced the infant
mortality rate.
3.Migration
Large number of people move from one
place to another place in search of
Job,education,health facilities,marriage
purpose etc and this large scale
migration of people from one place to
another also results in population
explosion.
4.Early Marriage
The practice of early marriage is
another important reason for the rapid
increase of population particularly in
India.Because early marriage results in
a longer span for reproductive activity
and increases the number of childrens.
5.Other causes of population explosion
• Poverty,Unemployment, religious beliefs, illiteracy are also some of the
major factors responsible for the population explosion
• Since Because of poverty, unemployment and illiteracy they use to
reproduce more children just because they think their childrens will be
the source of income for the family.
1.Depletion of Natural Resources
Because of increasing population demands for various things like
food, water, shelter etc also increases which results in the depletion
of resources.
2.Degradation of Environment
Overuse of coal, oil, natural gases and other fuels, emits harmful
gases like CO2, SO2 in the environment which leads to global
warming, melting of glaciers and other serious climactic issues.
3.Pollution
Population explosion is one of the major factor responsible for
the different type of environmental Pollutions like Air
Pollution, Water Pollution, soil pollution etc.
4.Rise in Unemployment
When a country becomes overpopulated, it gives rise to
unemployment as there are fewer jobs to support a large
number of people.
5.High Cost of living
overpopulation raises the price of various essential commodities, including food,
shelter, education,and healthcare.
6.Conflicts and wars
Overpopulation will also causes tension between two countries, states or among
the citizens of same country over the use of various resources like
water,minerals etc.
7.Other consequences
Overpopulation will cause malnutrition, poverty,hunger,overcrowding,increase
the chances of the emergence of the new pandemics and epidemics, water
shortage, destruction of natural habitats, climate change etc.
• Making People aware of the family planning.
• Educate the girl child.
• Women empowerment.
• Equal opportunities to girls in all the fields.
• Provide better education to all.
• Provide contraception to those who cannot afford it.
• More employment opportunities: Giving Job to more and more people will also
reduce the over population.
• Urbanisation: It's generally observed that people living in urban areas have low
birth rate than those living in rural areas.
• Standard of living: Improved standard of living also act as a barrier to the larger
family size norm.
• Government Policies:Different type of polices can also be implement
by the government to control the over population.
• Awareness program:Different type of awareness programs will have
to be run to spread the message about the negative impact of over
population specially in rural and backward areas.
• Self control and late marriage will also be effective measure to
control the over population.
• Though population of a country is an asset but it can
become a problem when the country can not afford to give
people basic necessities of life like
Food,shelter,cloth,Education,Medicine etc.
• But this problem can be solved if the people's started
cooperating with the government. There's a famous quote
"where there is will there is a way" and thus this problem
can also be solved if people's started taking some
important steps.
