High Powered French Academic Delegation in UPES

A high powered delegation of educationists from France led by Dr Jean Pierre Trotignon, former Ambassador of
France to United Kingdom and currently the Executive Director of “N plus I ” arrived in Bidholi campus of UPES
today. “N plus I” is a semi-government organization in France which co-ordinates and facilitates all foreign
Engineering students pursuing their post- graduation and above studies in French Institutions. Accompanying him
are Ms. Sapna Sachdeva, French Embassy Attache in India on University Relations, Ms. Golda Malhotra,
Representative of French Culture Centre of “N plus I ” in India and Mr Sylvain Choin, Regional Director of ‘Alliance
Francaise’.
Addressing the gathering Dr Trotignon shared the objectives of “N+I” and its association with over 50 French
Universities offering technical courses including in detail the various programs which could add value to Indian
students at the post graduate and above levels. UPES has always believed that higher education should not have
international boundaries. Over the years UPES has endeavored towards providing opportunities and access to its
students in several foreign Universities and has MOU’s with many Institutions in various countries through which
not only have UPES students found avenues of higher Education but have also secured opportunities of internships
and openings to work on short term projects in foreign geographies. France is one such country where UPES enjoys
progressive academic relationships and has MOU’s with more than ten Universities He also appreciated the role of
UPES in promoting International Education. Ms. Sachdeva spoke about the support provided by the French
embassy and the various scholarships which the French Government and French Companies offer to Indian
students in their pursuits. Ms. Malhotra explained in detail how the office of “N+I” in India assists and facilitates
the students through a single window. Mr. Choin, shared that in the last 5 years over one lac Indian students who
went out to various French Universities have benefited from their organization in terms of pre-learning the French
Language and French Culture before actually landing in France.
The above team was accompanied by representatives from 08 French Universities, who shared detailed
information of the various courses offered by their respective Institutions in the field of Engineering along with
other fields including Agriculture, Biotechnologies, Sustainable Development, Nano technology Environment and
Basic Sciences. They also shared in detail the course fees structures and the scholarships available. Tomorrow the
team would be also interacting with students from other Universities of Uttarakhand in UPES campus.
Dr Shrihari, VC of UPES informed the gathering that going forward the University is now focused on
Internationalization through student exchange and faculty exchange. Dr Ugur Guven, Vice President of
International Affairs and the architect behind the Internationalization endeavors of UPES shared details of the
overseas achievements of UPES students while also informing that as compared to the previous year where 25
students from various French Universities did their summer Internship with UPES, this year he has already received
more than one hundred applications.
Mr. Arun Dhand, Director – Media Affairs, UPES in his address shared that UPES has always believed that higher

Director of College of Legal Studies, Dr Maneesh Prateek, Director of Centre for Information Technology, Dr Suresh
Kumar, Associate Dean, College of Engineering Studies, Mr. Ajeet Nigam, Brig Dhillon and all Head of Departments.
The event coordinators consisted of Mr. Vikram Rana, Dr Rati Oberoi and Mr. Nitin Bhamra apart from the student
volunteers.
