2. Wall covering is used to cover
and decorate the interior walls of
homes, offices, cafes, hotels , bed
rooms, government buildings,
museums, post offices, and other
buildings; it is one aspect of
interior decoration.
5. Despite the fact that there are many
different types of house paint, most fall
into one of two categories: oil and water.
Oil-based house paint is referred to as
alkyd, while the water-based type is
commonly called latex or acrylic. The
main differences between the two are
their drying processes, their finishes, and
the ease or difficulty of clean up

Types of Paints
7. • These paints consist of synthetic resins
and dyes dispersed in water, when dried
they form tough, washable and wear
resistant films. They are alkali resistant
and are suitable for new ,damp plastered
walls. They have little odor and quick to
dry and suitable for redecoration of guest
rooms
Emulsion Paints
8. • These are made up of synthetic resins
called alkyds, which are widely used in
the manufacture of paint and varnishes,
vegetable oils (linseed oil) & mineral
spirit as the solvent. They are easy to
apply and are durable. They are
available in glass, silk and flat finish
• Used in those place that are subjected
to heavy wear

consist of individual flecks of
different colors, subtly blended to
achieve the natural appearance of
such materials as granite, cork,
leather and stone. It is a dispersion
of cellulose colors in water.
Multicolor paints
10. • These are usually plaster based
(limestone, sand, water). They give a
textured finish to the surface. After
the paints is applied it is worked upon
by using combs, palette knives etc

rolls, which are hung vertically

available
• Hand-printed wallpaper – expensive, not widely
available
• Spongeable or washable – this paper has a thin
coat on transparent plastic over the pattern on
underlying pulp paper
• Anaglyptic – plain embossed patterned paper
which is normally painted over
• Wood chips- it is cream in color & has saw dust
or wood chips mixed when the paper is in pulp
form
Types of Wallpaper
14. As its name indicates, this wallpaper has been
treated with acrylic vinyl or polyvinyl chloride.
They are easy to clean and unaffected by long
term exposure to humidity or grease.
Vinyl coated wallpaper is especially
recommended for bathroom, kitchen and even
basement walls for specifically this reason.
This type is scrubbable and strippable. This type
is good for almost any climate. It's also easy to
clean, scrubbable and peels off easily from the
wall when it's time for removal.
15. The purpose of a natural stone veneer is to
provide a given structure with the appearance
of an actual stone masonry work; that is, the
structures are made to look like real stone
walls. Since actual stone masonry can be
quite expensive, given the sourcing of the
natural stones from distant quarries and the
dressing needed to prepare them for
construction, natural stone veneers are the
next best and comparatively more affordable
alternative.
