The following presentation is centered on supporting educators who are working towards ensuring students are developing mastery in content, cognate, and cognitive learning outcomes in their classroom. The presentation focuses on strategies, underpinned by research, that elevate a teachers practice to inspect daily instructional and assessment strategies, build and inspect curriculum to enable surface and deep level knowledge construction, and to design a learning environment that builds the capacity of and involves learners in understanding their learning and taking action to constantly improve. The slide deck goes further, providing guidance to site and district leaders to develop systems of deeper level learning. Core outcomes of the presentation: - Understand specific practices that limit the impact potential of problem and project based learning in the substantial enhancement of student learning - Understand specific practices that have a high probability of enhancing student learning in the learning environments that utilize problem and project based learning. - Understand underlying cognitive principles and specific strategies teachers may utilize to create a learning community to discuss learning, design and implement projects to ensure surface and deep level knowledge, and work collaboratively to review the impact of learning with students. - Understand key tactical approaches that support site and district leaders in building and sustaining deeper learning systems.

As a part of the series of presentations by the teachers on various pedagogies suggested by NEP 2020, the fourth session dealt with Project Based Learning , where impactful project based teaching strategies were shared by the group of teachers of Ram Ratna International School. It showcased various elements of the Project based learning and a role of a teacher for effective PBL from planning to execution. Examples related to different subject and grades were presented during the session. Overall it was a perfect presentation on PBL pedagogy under the leadership of Ms Dhanashri Kotwal and by her teammates Mr. Nilesh Patil, Ms. Shabnam Shaikh and Ms. Soniya Robins. How can I motivate my students? What kind of activities or materials should I design to address a variety of learning styles, How can I encourage my students to participate and become active participants rather than being passive receivers of knowledge? In this workshop the participants will receive general guidelines as to the implementation of work projects by using internet activities as a means to promote new ways of teaching and learning that not only improve the students’ skills and motivation, but also promote meaningful learning.

Instructions: Project based learning is being recognized as a method of instruction which leads to students developing deeper level thinking. Developing and delivering a project based lesson is different than the process utilized for traditional lessons. This assignment is designed to introduce you to the concept and provide practice developing a lesson which will use project based learning. In this assignment you will develop a project based lesson plan by either transforming a current lesson, or creating a new lesson plan using the project based approach. Be sure to include the seven components of successful Evidence Based Practice (EBT) included in the Edutopia’s link included in the assignment resources. Also, please be sure to review this and other resources provided, from these you will learn more about project based learning, help guide you and give examples of successful project based lesson plans. Project based lessons consider a real life concept or problem for which students work with one another to derive a solution. As such, students are likely to derive different solutions since they are in charge of their learning. Use the resources for the assignment as well as the many available on the web for project based learning and lesson planning Include at the end a reflection on the learning expected by students from the plan you developed, and your understanding for how project based lesson will improve student learning in general. Length: 3-5 pages depending on the project lesson or unit, not including title and reference pages. APA Format References: minimum of 3 scholarly resources. Your lesson plan should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards . Be sure to adhere to Northcentral University's Academic Integrity Policy. Review NCU's Academic Integrity Tutorial to refresh your knowledge of how to achieve academic integrity. Upload your assignment using the Upload Assignment button below. Seven components of project-based learning to the lesson plan http://www.aems-edu.org/policyAndAdvocacy/marylandStateDepartmentOfEducationFineArtsPolicy/index.html 1 Define the Content. What do you want students to learn by the end of the assignment? Expectations should correspond with students' current research and reasoning skills. 2 Identify the Context. Brainstorm a list of real-life activities in which learners could apply the intended content. Be aware of any time or location constraints in these situations. 3 List Possible Problems. Create a list of problems or projects that could occur in each context from Step Two. Select the problem or project that best presents the content objectives and that will be appealing and relevant to learners. 4 Describe Potential Solution s. Fully describe the most viable solution to the proble.

With the current shift experienced in Higher Education towards micro-learning, flipped and blended classrooms, class recordings may involve different types of activities in addition to lecture capture. For example, staff may use recordings for walk-through demonstrations, practical sessions, revision activities, and assessment overviews. In addition, recordings may be used for non-teaching purposes, such as course orientation, guest talks and resources designed to support students’ accessibility, widening participation, inclusivity, belongingness and study flexibility. However, there can also be student-led recorded presentations, which help students to develop a range of professional skills, such as effective presentation, team-work and digital literacy skills. The recording of student presentations may also help to simplify moderation and quality assurance processes.

In BC’s nearly-decade-old “new” curriculum, the curricular competencies describe the processes that students are expected to develop in areas of learning such as mathematics. They reflect the “Do” in the “Know-Do-Understand” model. Under the “Communicating” header falls the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions.” Note that it contains two processes: “Explain mathematical ideas” and “Justify mathematical decisions.” I have broken it down into its separate parts in order to understand--or reveal--its meaning. The first part is commonplace in classrooms. By now, BC math teachers—and students—understand that “Explain mathematical ideas” means more than “Show your work.” Teachers consistently ask “What did you do?” and “How do you know?” This process is about retelling, not just of steps but of thinking. The second part happens less frequently. Think back to the last time that you observed a student make—a necessary precursor to justify—a mathematical decision. “Justify” is about defending. Like “explain,” it involves reasoning; unlike “explain,” it also involves opinion and debate. In order to reinterpret the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions,” I will continue to take apart its constituent part “Justify mathematical decisions” and carefully examine the term “mathematical decisions.” What, exactly, is a “mathematical decision”? Below, I will categorize answers to this question. These categories, and the provided examples, may help to suggest new opportunities for students to justify.
