Introduction
School populations are becoming increasingly diverse across all EU countries. Schools with a high percentage of students

At the Get-in! Further Conference teachers, school managers and experts will have the opportunity to exchange ideas,
attend workshops and discuss possibilities for further sustainable school cooperation.

Workshops
“Mobile language learning (MLL) applications in multilingual contexts” Thursday 19
Yasmin Bayyurt
Bogazici University Istanbul (Turkey)
www.fed.boun.edu.tr
MLARG involves the implementation of mobile learning (mlearning) technologies in foreign language teaching to
enhance language learning facilities of students coming from lower socioeconomic backgrounds in vocational
schools. Thus, this project is both innovative – e.g., use of technology in foreign language education, and
inclusive – i.e., designed for young people at risk groups. The main reasons for choosing Mobile learning (m-
learning) can be listed as follows: (i) m-learning helps learners to develop positive attitudes towards literacy both
in school subjects and technology.
“Teacher competences in EU perspective” Thursday 19
Mia Stokmans + Peter Broeder
Tilburg University / EUCIM-TE – European Core Curriculum for Inclusive Academic Teaching
(The Netherlands)
www.eucim-te.nl
The main aim of the project is to improve the pre- and in-service training of all teachers in relation to their work
with immigrant pupils by creating a competence based European Core Curriculum for teacher education and its
national adaptations.
The project shall generate general changes in teacher education. By creating national/regional Teacher Education
Partnerships (TEPs) involving teacher pre-service and in-service education institutions, schools and education
authorities in the project’s work it will be possible to change teacher education programmes and state examination
standards and facilitate the mainstreaming of the project’s proposals.
“Golden 5 - An Educational Intervention” Thursday 19
Maria Jose Lera
University of Seville (Spain)
www.golden5.org
The proposed project GOLDEN5 aims to produce an educational program and a modular course for educational
staff to create a more congenial and effective school environment. This project is founded on the belief that
schools have important responsibilities for the education of future citizens, with healthy attitudes towards
themselves, others and society; and that children at risk of social exclusion do need special attention. Teachers
themselves need to be competent in managing strategies and in improving the social development of the children
and the class as a group.
“Community based educational intervention: Opportunities for European Schools”
Abdishakur Tarah Thursday 19
Aqoon School-Home Support Service (UK)
www.aqoon.org
The Home School Support Service aims to facilitate effective communication between schools, educational
support agencies and black and minority ethnic parents and children in Leicester. The service aims to bridge the
gap between parents, carers and schools and facilitate better communication through mediation, advocacy,
education and training.

General information about ´s- Hertogenbosch (NL)
's-Hertogenbosch, a meeting place
's-Hertogenbosch is the capital of the province of North Brabant. It is
located in the southern Netherlands, some 80 km south of Amsterdam.
The Dutch seldom say 's –Hertogenbosch but rather Den Bosch which is
traditional Dutch for "The Forest". 's-Hertogenbosch was founded as a
fortified city and that heritage can still be seen today. Most historic elements
have been preserved. In 2004 the city was awarded the title European Fortress City of the year.
The old city of 's-Hertogenbosch is still almost completely surrounded by continuous ramparts.
Hidden below the old city is a canal network called the Binnendieze that once spanned 22 kilometers. It started
out as a regular river, the Dommel, running through the city in medieval times but due to lack of space in the
city, people started building their houses and roads over the river. In later times it functioned as a sewer and fell into disrepair. In recent
decades, the remaining sixth of the old waterway system has been renovated, and it is possible to take several guided subterranean boat
trips through it.
's-Hertogenbosch is also home to Saint John's Cathedral (Sint Jans kathedraal in Dutch) which is said to be one of the most beautiful
cathedrals in the Netherlands. The Cathedral dates from circa 1220 and is best known for its (Brabantian) gothic design and the many
sculptures of craftsmen that are sitting on almost every arc and rim along the outside of the cathedral
The painter Hieronymus Bosch (c. 1450 - 1516) remains probably the best
known citizen of 's-Hertogenbosch.
The city of 's-Hertogenbosch has become a centre of industry, education,
administration and culture. It is currently the fourth city of Noord Brabant. It
is home to many national and international businesses such as Heineken,
Tyco International and many others.

  • 5. Gender, EThnicity – INtegration through international school projects 5 Workshops “Mobile language learning (MLL) applications in multilingual contexts” Thursday 19 Yasmin Bayyurt Bogazici University Istanbul (Turkey) www.fed.boun.edu.tr MLARG involves the implementation of mobile learning (mlearning) technologies in foreign language teaching to enhance language learning facilities of students coming from lower socioeconomic backgrounds in vocational schools. Thus, this project is both innovative – e.g., use of technology in foreign language education, and inclusive – i.e., designed for young people at risk groups. The main reasons for choosing Mobile learning (m- learning) can be listed as follows: (i) m-learning helps learners to develop positive attitudes towards literacy both in school subjects and technology. “Teacher competences in EU perspective” Thursday 19 Mia Stokmans + Peter Broeder Tilburg University / EUCIM-TE – European Core Curriculum for Inclusive Academic Teaching (The Netherlands) www.eucim-te.nl The main aim of the project is to improve the pre- and in-service training of all teachers in relation to their work with immigrant pupils by creating a competence based European Core Curriculum for teacher education and its national adaptations. The project shall generate general changes in teacher education. By creating national/regional Teacher Education Partnerships (TEPs) involving teacher pre-service and in-service education institutions, schools and education authorities in the project’s work it will be possible to change teacher education programmes and state examination standards and facilitate the mainstreaming of the project’s proposals. “Golden 5 - An Educational Intervention” Thursday 19 Maria Jose Lera University of Seville (Spain) www.golden5.org The proposed project GOLDEN5 aims to produce an educational program and a modular course for educational staff to create a more congenial and effective school environment. This project is founded on the belief that schools have important responsibilities for the education of future citizens, with healthy attitudes towards themselves, others and society; and that children at risk of social exclusion do need special attention. Teachers themselves need to be competent in managing strategies and in improving the social development of the children and the class as a group. “Community based educational intervention: Opportunities for European Schools” Abdishakur Tarah Thursday 19 Aqoon School-Home Support Service (UK) www.aqoon.org The Home School Support Service aims to facilitate effective communication between schools, educational support agencies and black and minority ethnic parents and children in Leicester. The service aims to bridge the gap between parents, carers and schools and facilitate better communication through mediation, advocacy, education and training. 6th GET-IN! • 7. Gender, EThnicity – INtegration through international school projects 7 ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands, 18 – 21 May, 2011 Location of the Conference Venue and Accommodation Golden Tulip - Hotel Central Adress: Burgemeester Loeffplein 98, 5211 RX, ‘s-Hertogenbosch The Hotel Central can easily be reached by car and public transport. Situated in the heart of Den Bosch, you can easily walk around to admire the main attractions. It is located very close to the Railroad Station (about 10 minutes walking). http://www.hotel-central.nl General information about ´s- Hertogenbosch (NL) 's-Hertogenbosch, a meeting place 's-Hertogenbosch is the capital of the province of North Brabant. It is located in the southern Netherlands, some 80 km south of Amsterdam. The Dutch seldom say 's –Hertogenbosch but rather Den Bosch which is traditional Dutch for "The Forest". 's-Hertogenbosch was founded as a fortified city and that heritage can still be seen today. Most historic elements have been preserved. In 2004 the city was awarded the title European Fortress City of the year. The old city of 's-Hertogenbosch is still almost completely surrounded by continuous ramparts. Hidden below the old city is a canal network called the Binnendieze that once spanned 22 kilometers. It started out as a regular river, the Dommel, running through the city in medieval times but due to lack of space in the city, people started building their houses and roads over the river. In later times it functioned as a sewer and fell into disrepair. In recent decades, the remaining sixth of the old waterway system has been renovated, and it is possible to take several guided subterranean boat trips through it. 's-Hertogenbosch is also home to Saint John's Cathedral (Sint Jans kathedraal in Dutch) which is said to be one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the Netherlands. The Cathedral dates from circa 1220 and is best known for its (Brabantian) gothic design and the many sculptures of craftsmen that are sitting on almost every arc and rim along the outside of the cathedral The painter Hieronymus Bosch (c. 1450 - 1516) remains probably the best known citizen of 's-Hertogenbosch. The city of 's-Hertogenbosch has become a centre of industry, education, administration and culture. It is currently the fourth city of Noord Brabant. It is home to many national and international businesses such as Heineken, Tyco International and many others. http://www.s- hertogenbosch.nl/content.cfm?contentid=DB203DA0-0601-D413- 7D2120A705DB0608
