Introduction on session objectives
Reflecting back on delegates’ performance during the marshmallow challenge..
Delegates should reflect on these questions and then share within their home groups
All of you have a personal value that you stand for as a person. And maybe that is something that is pretty far away for you right now in your current state. But, you can always build towards your personal value to make yourself closer to your goal. And how as we illustrated today through our marshmallow challenge, that is through activities and challenges. And after being through challenges, we reflect on them and even eventually learn from them. We become closer and closer to our personal why with each day, with every step that we take.
And that is what personal growth is all about. If we are all passionate about taking up challenges and learning from them, we can continue to grow. And as we grow ourselves, we put ourselves closer to what we stand for every time.
What AIESEC then provides is a variety of opportunities and challenges for you. We believe in peace and fulfilment of humankind’s potential. It is about developing the potential of every individual to its fullest – that includes each and every one of you here. And we believe that providing opportunities to you for practical learning and then facilitating your inner reflection can help you to grow personally. The more opportunities and challenges you take up, the more growth you can achieve. And it is up to you to choose the relevance of the opportunities to your own personal goals.
To illustrate it abit better, I would like to share the story of my greatest learning in AIESEC so far.
So let’s look back at what you found out in the previous session on what you stand for..
Is there a gap currently? What do you need to learn in order to bridge that gap? How should you develop yourself in order to bridge that gap?
Let’s imagine yourself building your tower now – challenging yourself, learning and developing yourself throughout the process. And we hope this process starts now, right at MyLDS where you have the support of fellow 600 delegates of AIESEC in Malaysia. All of us believe in personal growth to become a better person with each day, and we can support each other to achieve our individual personal value. If I want to grow personally, then for sure, I can’t be always doing the same thing, expecting a different outcome right? I should look at where I should improve on, and then find the correct opportunity to help me improve on that aspect. And that may sometimes involve changing behaviours.
To make myself clearer, I will share a story of my own behavioural challenge, on the things I took to try to change how I behave based on what I would like to fight for.
So what is your behavioural challenge? Reflect on these questions!
