This presentation discusses some of the research and projects currently present that support and/or build BRIDGE networks between K-12 and Higher Education instructional designers and educators. There will be time after the presentation for sharing of current practices in this area from attendees as well as ideas for collaborating on these ideas on a greater level.

8. P-16 INITIATIVES – 1999, SHEEO REPORT
“In no other country is public, especially secondary education, so
distant from higher education. In every other country, there is a
ministry of education to be sure, but there is also an
unquestioned assumption that the universities [and colleges] are
deeply involved and responsible for the evolution of secondary
education.”

“As an alumnus of the biomedicine lab at CART who is currently double
majoring in biochemistry and public health on a pre-medical track at UC
Merced, I can honestly say that I use no high school curriculum and skill
set more often than those I developed and learned at CART. It is a
tremendous program that should serve as a model for future academic
institutions globally.The project-based career-orientated dynamic
tremendously prepares students for the realities of higher education and
their respective careers thereafter.”
