The document provides feedback on a music video project for an indie pop band. It praises the song choices, narrative ideas, locations, and timeline. However, it cautions that the project risks looking more like a pop video than indie and recommends finding a balance of pop and indie elements. It also provides suggestions to get permission for public locations, film test shots, and incorporate references to the band's musical idols through clothing, instruments, and poses.
1. Try not to get carried away with the narrative and stick to more performance
based. Good song choice
Song is popular but will work. How will the narrative fit? Good use of
inspiration
Script site is good to base on. Good song choice. Narrative could be a bit
longer, but performance mainly would work. Fun living lifestyle in narrative will
fit indie pop genre.
Love the black and white digipak. Everything has been planned out really well.
Runs the risk of looking more like a pop video than an indie but will still look
amazing. Love the song choice too.
Good ideas for shots. Good song choice, could use number of different shots
and lighting.
Very good idea for locations. Good performance and narrative combination
ideas.
Like the black and white digipak
Like the fairground rides idea. God planning of lyrics and music to visuals.
Good timeline
Chosen song has editing potential. Make some style differences from the
official music video to make it more unique. Will need to be careful with public
shots, make sure all model release forms and signed and public are not in
frame. Website idea looks good, consolidate the style of the indie pop genre.
Timeline is well thought out, well done!
Good song choice. Like the location ideas. Especially like the use of sped up
clips and transitions in your inspiration idea.
Digipaks are good, good pintrest, detailed timeline. Ick between narrative and
performance.
Popular song, be careful. Ensure we can identify the genre- arcade and beach
is quite pop. Make sure there are both pop and indie aspects.
A popular song so be careful you don’t copy the video. For the sunset lighting
make sure it is light enough to be able to see. Seems more pop than indie.
Love the song choice. Perhaps plan the digipak and website more so it’s not
just a copy of other bands products.
Good locations but might be hard getting permission
Black and white is cool and a good choice. Might work in the video too?
Record test shots. Record it in colour and adjust after. Locations- dance studio
good but no white background, only black has curtains and mirrors. Arcade
and fun fairs, where is it? Negotiate with stall holders and people running the
rides etc. Go at quiet time of day. Frame shots to exclude public.
Intertextuality- As an indie band who would be their idols? Can you reference
these in clothing, instruments, poses, body language (find classic images of
idols). Fun fair/arcade. This could reference other films and videos (Grease
etc) Research some sequences. Do it in a knowing/mocking/ironic way.
