2. Known as the “Father of Aerobics”
 At the young age of 29 Doctor Cooper was water skiing when he
felt like he was having a heart attack. The doctor advised him that it
wasn’t a heart attack but that he was out of shape and his heart
was not accustomed to the amount of stress it had endured during
this physical activity. It was then that he took his health into his own
hands and decided to help influence the world.
 Author of 18 books. Best known seller is Aerobics which was
published in 1968.

 Partnered with Pepsico and Frito Lay to redesign their products to
be made without saturated fats. On the back of the baked
products he included the quote “Fitness is a journey, not a
destination. It must be continued for the rest of your life.”

Center (Opened in 1970)
 Home base for the study of exercise being the best preventative
measure for a healthy life.
 Treadmill stress test
 Studies the use of aerobic exercise to prevent hypertension, high
blood pressure, high cholesterol, the ratio of body fat percentage
and much more.

5. Cardiovascular Exercise:
A general term for any form of vigorous aerobic exercise, which pushes
the heart rate to a near maximum.
