2. On Friday 21st October we were able to use the drama
studio in order to film all of our video. Before the
shoot we arranged the shots around which times we
had access to our actors. For example we were able
to sign older Emily off out of her lessons for the
entire day but we only had younger Emily for after
school until 5.30pm. I felt that this did not have much
of a negative impact on the shoot however after
school I felt that there was a pressure and rush in
order to make a new set and do a lot of shots in a
short period of time. Therefore if we were to do the
video again we would try to gain access to the studio
for two days so that we could of shot older Emilys
shots in one day and younger Emilys shot in the
other.
3. We were able to overcome this by making sure that we
made a shotlist which we used throughout the day.
We separated it into older Emilys shots, younger
Emilys and the joint shots. I feel that this helped us a
lot so that we did not forget to film any footage as well
as making sure no time was wasted on the day.
Although we did make a shot list we could have
improved this by putting it into order of shots for the
day appose to chronologically for our music video
therefore it made it slightly difficult to decide what
order to film in. In the day I felt that the shoot went to
our advantage as we managed to do every shot that
we wanted to and even got time to do some additional
shots and gain more footage even if the end of our
shoot felt slightly rushed.
4. One of the main factors we was rushed is from our
'feather scene'. In our video their is a scene
where Emily is hitting the pillow on the bed and
feathers were flying around the room we did
not realise before hand how many feathers
there were and also we did not come prepared
with any hovers or broom. As there was so
many feathers which kept getting stuck to the
carpet and took almost an hour to clean up we
were only able to shoot this scene once which
preferably we would of liked to done it more. In
the future I would recommend not use to a
carpet as the feathers kept getting stuck and
also having a number of hovers as it would of
saved us a lot of time.
5. At the start of day we also faced of the problem of
realising we did not have a photo to put in the photo
frame of younger Emily so therefore had to send Matt and
Jamal to take a photo on the day which was very time
consuming. We overcome this by me and Frankie shooting
the shots which did not involve the photo frame, however
in future I would ensure that we would have every single
prop organised before the day of the shoot. I felt that we
made a good choice of our actors as older Emily was very
confident around us and I felt that she got into character
well and put on a convincing performance which would
highly benefit our video making it more convincing to the
audience. She also helped us out putting up the flats and
clearing up on the day. She was also comfortable with all
of the things which we asked her to do for our shoot and
did not say no.
6. I felt that younger Emily felt nervous around us and also in
the video, this may have been as by the time she had
come in we were very rushed to film so did not have
much time to get her settled. In the future we would run
through a day or so before with the actors of what
exactly we want them to do and especially for younger
Emily as she was not familiar with the song and we had
to do multiple takes of the 'Call 911 Now' as she did not
manage to get the grasp of it so this would therefore
save us time. At the end of our video when cleaning up
as Jamal had to leave for work I felt that we also had a lot
of pressure to take down the flats and move all of our
props from the drama studio back t the media block as
there was not as many of us. In the future we would
make sure that we called in extra people to help us set
up and put down the set so that we could of saved time
and then we also would of had longer to shoot and also
had the opportunity to do extra shots.
7. On the day I felt my role consisted of me partly
filming as well as helping create the different sets
and also organising the props. As I was not
experienced with the camera before the shoot I
feel that throughout the day I was more confident
in using it as well as learning how to use it. As
other group members were more confident and
had more experience using the cameras such as
Frankie and Matt they took on the role of filming
the majority of our shots in order for the footage
to be as professional as possible and also to the
best of our ability. I feel that by having this role it
allowed me to also expand my knowledge on
technology and also the demand for recreating our
set under pressure.
8. Over all I feel that our shoot went well with us being able
to do all the shots we wanted and more. On the day we
did not have any problems with the technology asides
from us limiting one of our shots as the lighting
captured our shadows when working with the dolly. As
an individual on the shoot I felt that I helped throughout
the day to the best of my ability and remained
motivated even though I was not skilled as some of the
other group members when working with the cameras. I
felt that we made a good choice of our actors especially
older Emily. If we were to shoot again I felt that our
biggest challenge was cleaning up the feathers so
therefore would be more prepared and also being more
organised with our props so that it would be less time
consuming.
