Dear Judges:
Hello, my name is Andrew Anglin. I am a member of the Aeronautics Club at Creekview
High School. I enjoy the club, though I view it more as a hobby rather than a career I plan
on pursuing. Instead, my future plans are to attend North Georgia College and State
University to study law and possibly receive a job with the FBI or CIA. However, my
participation in the Aeronautics Club has led me to the basis of my Senior Project, which
involves the history of rockets and the construction of a small-scale, high-powered
rocket.
In order to better understand how rockets have progressed through the centuries, my
research paper consists of the history of rockets from the beginning of their existence to
the modern age. I furthered my knowledge on how rockets have progressed through the
ages and this gave me a better understanding of the importance that rockets represent. I
then was able to build a small-scale rocket through the school Aeronautics Club after
learning more of the foundation of modern rockets. During the construction of the rocket
I received copious amounts of advice from my project facilitator and after the rocket was
complete, I decided to perform a launch to collect further data. However, I experienced
an engine malfunction that resulted in many broken pieces; thus, I had to reconstruct
some parts for the final product.
Furthermore, the challenges I experienced through the launch failure helped me learn
from possible mistakes and how to stand strong in overcoming obstacles. These
challenges are experienced every day by those who pursue careers in Aerospace
Engineering and space programs such as NASA. Therefore, the problems I faced
represent current challenges that experts have to overcome as well in order to advance
military technology and space exploration. Though, I do not intend on pursuing a career
in any of these fields, I enjoy broadening my views on information and technology
dealing with these fields.
Finally, I believe Senior Project has better prepared me for college with the format and
work load that I will experience as I further my education. Overall, I enjoyed the project
and overcoming the obstacles I faced as they have made me appreciate those who work
2. hard every day in the Aerospace careers. I appreciate the time you all spent out of the day
to view my Senior Project.
Sincerely,
Andrew Anglin
